I had such a crush on this man and was devastated when he became an enemy mid-battle saying something like, 'Don't be mad, it's just business, they paid me more!' Still, I like to think before his betrayal my main character and he enjoyed some bonding time in the various taverns and inns, getting well-aquainted. And of course I like to think there's a universe where that relationship kept the old merc. from switching sides!
