I am NOT currently open for commissions. However I understand it is important to have this information updated and available for folks to refer back to. I should be open again in September and will post about it.
The current commission client list I have, in order is: Brawl9977, Kittenbear, Rockfang, Demosz, Royce
Dudebulge's Commission Info (2020)
Commission Process:
1. Contact me through the email listed above- dudesdrawings@gmail.com regarding the commission work you would like me to do. This is just an introductory email, I don't need reference materials or anything at this point. I will let you know when I am able, if I will accept your project. Remember, if I can't at this time, that doesn't mean I can't in the future. This would be the email where you just outline what you would like from me, be it a full body character, portrait, etc. and who the character is.
2. Once I let you know if I am going to take and start on your commission, I will require reference materials emailed to me. These could be character sheets, movie stills, images of background if applicable, details of special tattoos, etc. You don't need to go crazy with them (unless you want to!). A clear face image and body pic are usually enough in most cases. The only time I wouldn't require reference from you is if we're designing a new character from the ground up and only have text to go from. Also, any pertinent details you would like included for example: certain body parts as the focus of the image, expression of character(s), etc. If you prefer my chibi style, more cartoony or realistic proportions, you can call that out too.
3. I will create a rough draft after receiving your references email and send it to you for approval. This is the time to determine ANY changes you would like made that show up in the rough sketch phase. For example, you don't like the composition, and want to try something completely different. I will do up to 2 rough drafts. If there are smaller changes that need to be changed at this time, do call those out too. I do not like this phase to take a long time as it can end up wasting hours and hours. To avoid that, be clear with me in step 2 regarding what you want. I don't like to guess, I like to know what my client wants from the get-go. Of course, you can ask for my input too, I want you to be happy with your finished piece after all! Once the rough is approved by you, I will verify pricing with you and send you an invoice. Once I have received payment in full I will move to the final stages. After I receive the payment in full, I will take up to 60 days to complete your order.
4. You can check in on my progress sporadically, but please don't overdo it. (If you ask me twice in one week how the commission is coming along, yup, that's too often, lol.) I will update you automatically at phase ends: end of inking stage, end of flat color phase, and one more time after adding values. (Assuming you've paid for colors and/or values obviously) After that you can expect your finished piece! :D When you get your update emails with attached works in progress, it is completely fine if small adjustments need to be made along the way, please make sure to call them out so I can fix them for you! Example: "Hey D.B., my guy's eyes are supposed to be red and these look pretty yellow!"
Additional Information:
Patreon is my biggest focus in my professional art career and requires the vast majority of my time. This is why I require up to 2 months for each commission I take on. I also hate to feel rushed on works, especially premium projects like these. I will get your piece done in the promised amount of time, possibly earlier, but please just be patient and accept that it will likely be closer to 60 days.
I mention 'simple backgrounds' but what does that mean? I mean something that's not overly detailed or time consuming. Examples of simple backgrounds include: an open grassy field, a blue sky with fluffy white clouds, a blanket on top of a bed. Complex backgrounds are ones that will take me a large amount of effort to complete like, cityscapes, dense forests, a stained-glass window, etc. Complex backgrounds cost a bit more, as you might expect. Free backgrounds are ones that are just a simple flat color or color gradient.
Similar to complex backgrounds are especially detailed characters. Mechanized limbs or robotic bodies, detailed, individually feathered wings, things of this nature take much longer to draw, ink, and color and have an extra expense due to this.
And Finally:
Don't let this wall of information daunt you! If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket and would like original artwork done by yours truly, please get in touch. I don't bite, and can promise to be professional (and friendly!) throughout the experience. And if you have any questions for me regarding the process, subject matter, or anything else you think *could pertain to your commission, just ask. Thanks for reading, and for choosing me to make you a custom illustration!
