2021-04-29 18:04:39 +0000 UTCJust a quick comment to prepare you for Drogas Wave because that album is a mammoth and will blow your mind more than any Lupe album😂 plus I have time to kill on my break LMAO In an Instagram post, Lupe explained that the album is a double album, and that each side is meant to be listened to as a separate body of work, but still fits as one continuous piece of work. First half ends at track 9, second half begins at track 10. I won’t spoil the subject matter beyond what Lupe said in his post, but the first half is WAVES and ends at track 9, Alan Forever. It’s Lupe’s main concept album here, and deals with the myth and story of the LongChains (a concept and story entirely made by him). The second half is DROGAS, and begins at track 10, Helter Skelter Interlude. Drogas means drugs in Spanish, and it deals with that as its overall theme, along with the usual substantive subjects found in a Lupe album. Lastly, other than drugs being a main theme and the meaning of DROGAS, Lupe also made it into an a acronym for “Don’t Ruin Us God Said,” with that tying into the first half and being the main theme as well.
