The Weeknd - Starboy FULL ALBUM REACTION

As we already knew, this was immediately blocked on YouTube. Along with BBTM, I'll try to get them up, but at absolute minimum it will take 30 days, if it's even possible at all.

So a massive thank you to the TEAM - uploaded for you guys. If it wasn't for you and your support, the video wouldn't even exist

Please keep the link within the Patreon

Much love. XOTWOD.

Yes, please do some Lana. I love her first 3 albums. Since then ,slight decline but a few bops per project.

I've never dove into lana del rays music either but I like you have always wanted to and just never have. If you react to them I know I'll watch. Also some of your least favorite tracks on this album are my favorites.

YeezusLovesYou

LANA DEL RAY

Watching your reaction to Starboy and BBTM is pretty similar to how i feel about those albums now. The first projects from Abel I've listened thru were BBTM then Starboy when it camed out, and i got some tunes from Starboy that i walked away with but i remember thinking that Starboy had a lot of tracks that were forgettable and blended too much to each other. Same with BBTM in terms of picking a few tracks and not really returning to the album as a whole. Those two albums seems a bit lack luster compared to Trilogy now that i was introduced to it by your reaction, but i am looking forward to MDM (i get Trilogy vibes from it) now and Hopefully the next album will be a return to form!

Would also love a born to die reaction!

Six feet under is my favorite Weeknd track, great reaction! I find that I don’t necessarily have the words to describe how I feel about certain tracks but after hearing you talk about them I gain a better understanding

burningfight

Unsubd. MDM.

Jeff Allison

Do you have a playlist of these sorts ? would love it.. haha

Loved It!!! can't wait for MDM

Thank you Tyler!

I had to join your patreon just in preparation for my dear melancholy. You’re reaction to the advancement of albums and his evolution is very similar to how I felt as a day one Stan of Abel. I’m so exited to see how the switch back to my dear melancholy hits you after going through this journey. Thanks for the content Jon!

Tyler kie

Yeah do Lana. Would love to see you react to her. She has that melancholy sound that you seem to gravitate towards.

Great job keep up your grind!!

Do Lowlife Ft. The Weeknd , also My Dear Melancholy <3

Also when this album came out, Abel mentioned that this album was meant to bring out a side of him that he doesn’t really show. I’ve been to a lot of his concerts throughout each of his era, and during the Starboy era I never seen him dance (he rarely danced before starboy came out) and perform with so much happiness on stage

Abel states that this album was heavily influenced by MJ and Prince

Yeesss you need to react to Lana's albums, honestly you'll really like it and her fans are really passionate, they'll help you grow your channel even more :) but of course do it if you want to do it! Much love 🖤

Ross

Bro, if you like the future and weeknd combo, maybe do a dual reaction for “Low Life“ and “Comin Out Strong”, two songs by them as a duo. Will be a quickie but we’ll worth it. Love your work, keep grinding!

Samuel Picken

Don’t feel like you need to make a season out of Lana. Born to die is a must tho. Lanas early music is all about that nostalgia of stuff that you’ve never really listened to before that you talk about often.

Ona1000 .

Looking forward to watching this, I suspect you'll really like Die For You

Matt Girdler

Oh, and I'm sure you've heard these before but I'd love to see reactions to Kanye's Christian Dior Denim Flow and Christmas in Harlem from his GOOD Fridays project.

anttiantti

As far reacting to Lana goes. Don't feel the pressure to make it a season. Just do one of her albums that people recommend to you and go from there. If you enjoy it yourself and metrics look decent enough you might as well do another but I don't think you should feel pressure of making everything a season. And as always, loved the reaction!

As a fan of The Weeknd you can’t keep comparing every album to trilogy. Every album he puts out is a different chapter in his life. BBTM slowly transitioning to mainstream and Starboy well the name speaks for itself. Putting out the same depressing music wouldn’t hit the same way if you put out 3 albums that r the same.

As a fan of Abel, the thing that I love about him the most is the experimentation. Lot of artists get stuck on producing a certain kind of music. But I think Abel is growing and expanding in all directions and trying different things. Maybe the core fans may not like it. But I do see incredible value in doing that. To put it very crudely, he can’t keep producing the same depressing shit that he did on Trilogy. He’s growing as an artist and music skill and competence will grow with that. Most of the tracks on Starboy are the kind I blast while travelling with friends. It’s the kind of vibe that you need you enjoy with people. His older work is more sit with your emotions and feelings and be mesmerised by the atmosphere. Thanks for the content Jon. You are the man.

Nomads with Ricky Hill dude

Even though there are songs that feel like filler on this album, if you view it as him telling the story of his transition into love life in the limelight they feel much more necessary. BBTM was the only album there hasn't been a clear story throughout and that mostly seems because he was trying to show off his range of styles for his first mainstream album.

Definitely

I honestly don't think people give him enough credit for this one (despite me absolutely agreeing that there's some filler) - this album is a loveletter to 80s pop of all kinds. False Alarm has some throwback to pseudo punk tracks. Secrets is a literal combination of Talking In Your Sleep by the Romantics along with a sample from Tears For Fears in the chorus. The name True Colors is a fucking Cindi Lauper song! The name Ordinary World is a fucking Duran Duran song! It's all over this album, it's meant to be a sort of willing modern update to that most all over, emotive, expressive and sometimes ridiculous era of pop, the 80s. I think he pulled it off, but people just want him in a dark apartment shooting heroin all day. To paraphrase Jay-Z, "People want my old shit - buy my old albums."

Xavvi

Ok let’s be fair and give Abel credit for Starboy cuz this is a very experimental album and a huge departure. It was a huge risk to take for me to make something like this.

DEFINITELY more Mac before any Lana

Taylor Garst

You are absolutely right. This album is my least fav of all of them. I feel like it is way too commercial for him. At the same time, he had to "secure the bag" , y.anoo. It was super mainstream in the states. I feel like he needed that for exposure. There are so many ppl that heard this and they went back to listen to his older music. But now.. I'm hoping (as far as logistics) he can give us the old vibes. Now you see what we mean as XO fans, when we say a Starboy fan, not an XO! 😎 It actually was an awesome tour though..Thanks for the video, JD. (I actually had to get the "Stargirl" tattd on my collar bone! 😄 #XO🖤

Cristal__Rocks O_o

Abel and Future are undefeated

Jakob Roloff

Great work Jon, maybe do a video of your best songs from trilogy, maybe a top 15 as theres 30 in total

Jack Harris

Die for you is the best song on starboy

React to Low Life, Drinks on Us, Might Not and Or Nah Remix, Weeknd has killer features worth reacting to :)

Starboy isn't his best piece of work, I'd agree. But aesthetically; both audibly and visually it's a classic to me. Really vibey. If you look at peoples covers and remixes of this album - its awesome. This album in a playlist with Travis Scott, Tame Impala (Mostly currents), 'Because the internet' by Childish Gambino and 'Trapsoul' by Bryson Tiller will put you in a good mooooddd.

Zuzu Hanley

YES!! This + all the other reactions this week has my made my whole week a lot better
