What's Going On This Week?

Our regular Monday meeting moved to Tuesday this week because yesterday was day one of action at Mama Wong’s with the stunt team!

We had other key departments heads on site who you may recognize from past projects. Bongani is our DP, he shot We’re All Gonna Die and is back with us for Nail House. He’ll be in and out as the stunt team works to choreograph the fight scenes.

More familiar faces from WAGD are Maxton Waller, composer, and Kevin Senzaki, sound designer, who came by for the start of action and will be involved as action design progresses and we'll get insight on their process as well.

Yung and the stunt team got choreo done for the first fight. The rest of the week will be more of the same on their end as they work through choreographing and filming pre-vis for each of the five fight scenes in the script.

Ashim is working with Yung to schedule out each of those fights so the whole team knows what is being choreographed/rehearsed and can be on site as needed.

Matt, Freddie, and Ashim are working with Nathan, VFX Supervisor, to finish up the boxcar scene we shot a few months back. We’ll be using that scene as a proof of concept to continue to securing financing as we move into production.

Ashim is also working on securing an AD to help build the schedule - what’s that?

TheAssistant Director, or AD, is the director’s right hand, time keeper, and overall floor general for the shoot itself.  Essentially the AD coordinates with all department heads so that the director isn’t dealing with in the moment logistics. The AD keeps time, makes sure the director knows how much time they have allotted for the scene being shot, when required break times are approaching, etc. The team is evaluating candidates but it’s a vital role that can make or break the vibe of the set…no pressure.
