June 6th Production Update - Construction Timeline
Added 2025-06-07 03:44:20 +0000 UTCConstruction on Mama Wong’s is just days away. Both the full set and the miniature version.
Above is a pass at the exterior of Mama Wong’s. This will be incredibly useful as I’m hoping to start the large-scale miniature of the exterior next week.
I figured I'd share a few of our notes on the above pass of the set. I'm really happy with how open and fluid the team has been so far. We meet every Monday for a production meeting, but we’re constantly chatting on Discord. So when Erik, our production designer, drops a new render or anything else, we can all see it and give feedback right away. So below you'll see sample of this quick feedback.

Erik had already turned around iterations, as early this day he had posted this-

Which meant we got to clarify that we wanted much less of the parking lot around the dumpling shot, and he integrate that feedback before even beginning to render out the rest of the construction pit.
Erik and Ashim are also finalizing a construction schedule and build cost for the set in its entirety. Our stated budget is to get this set built at about 300k. I don't have a detailed breakdown of this budget to share. First, it's not quite done yet (still getting a couple quotes), but also while we will talk about budget and money as openly as possible, for privacy we obviously don't want to share individuals rates. As we get further into construction we will do a video about budgeting a build like this, and will try to get into as many specifics as possible.
However, below I have the proposed building schedule. As you can see we are looking at starting construction next week. You'll also notice that its 2 weeks of construction before "installing on stage".
That is because much of the construction will happen off site at the crew's shop and then be transported to our stage space.
Very exciting times! Next week we should have some sound and music passes to share.
Thanks as always for the support, and if you have any questions, throw them into the comments!
