A Peak at Progress #11

Nothing too exciting for this post this week. Mostly just trying to get back up to steam. Clean up my files and notes.

The GIF up top is a small test of using Path2Ds to move around segmented creatures.  Each millipede in that image is made of up multiple sprites. Each sprite follows a pre-drawn path. It actually looks better as the sprites get smaller which is a pleasant surprise.

Additionally, I have drawn out my idea for the new parasite system:

Basically, I will have each body part (1) track what parasites it has (2). Then each parasite group will track how many eggs, young, and mature parasites it has (3). This information is then used to generate a preview of the infested body part (4).

This design will allow for multiple infestations. Additionally, it means I can change the position and count of parasites on the fly. Furthermore, it would enable the parasite system to do things like leaving eggs behind. Finally, the body part would expand in fixed increments based on the total parasite count, updating parasite position accordingly.

I will continue work on the parasite system as well as the millipede prize encounter (I haven't forgotten about it). Also, I'm going to be looking through my comments on an older post where I ask what carnival games people remembered fondly. I need to re-organize my notes and plans after that the blitz that was v0.3. It finally feels like Chitinous Carnival is entering the phase where I can focus less on figuring out how the underlying VN system controls other components and more on making content for it.

"Furthermore, it would enable the parasite system to do things like leaving eggs behind." 👀👀👀 NICE

Remember that game were you'd use a mounted water gun to hit a target to fill up a balloon and at the end of the timer who ever had the bigger balloon won. Then that milk bottle game were you have to throw a baseball at three stacked metal milk bottles (two on bottom, one on top) and try and knock them all down in one shot, bottle's bottoms were always weighted so it was hard to do. That game were you took a modified rifle that shot little rods that you had to use to try and shoot out a star on a piece of paper before you ran out of ammo. Skeet ball were you rolled a ball down a ramp that would get launched up at the end and they would have little hole cutouts with different point amounts you'd try and get the ball to go into.

I like the duck one. I really like the duck one.

Additionally, since I cannot allow unverified 3rd party cracks of my game to be distrusted though my official channels, I will be removing your comment about sending this version to people.

I didn't see that last post before BUUUT ring toss, the poster/balloon dart game, and my hometown always had a carnival where there was floating ducks with a random number on the bottom. You'd pull 3 and add the number up which correlates to a prize.

I would appreciate you messaging me about issues that have popped up over reverse engineering my game. I'm still catching up on some comments and will be creating a new bug fix patch. Additionally, I have to check which bugs still appear in addendum 2 and which ones don't.
