Its the Monster mash, there really isnt any other live action movie done this well with the big name monsters. Honorable mentions to hotel transylvania, monster squad, and abbot and costello meet the monster.

i think you are looking at it with rose-tinted glasses. There were parts of this movie that were cringe and bad.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a low approval rating of 24% based on 225 reviews, with the consensus stating: "A hollow creature feature that suffers from CGI overload"
Common critiques focused on the film's excessive use of special effects, lack of coherent storytelling, and underdeveloped characters.
Critics noted that characters like Anna Valerious lacked depth and clear motivations, serving more as plot devices than fully realised individuals. This contributed to the film's mixed reception, as audiences found it challenging to connect with the characters' journeys.
Developing well-rounded characters with clear motivations, flaws, and growth can enhance a story's emotional resonance and overall effectiveness.
The movie was panned by the critics and audience, although it was a commercial success.
Metacritic reports a user score of 6.3 out of 10, suggesting that many found the film enjoyable despite its flaws .

Still crazy the only movie with Nic Cage they've done is 'Kick-Ass'. Most reaction channels eventually get to the run of 'The Rock', 'Con Air', and 'Face/Off' but even beyond those he has another 15 or so that would be good to react to.

Please watch “Renfield” starring Nicholas Cage. It’s also about Dracula but it’s kind of a light comedy. It’s a fun film.

Seems to be based on how many likes a suggestion in the comments would get. Also, it looks like they are on a vampire marathon and I expect to see Blade and Underworld reactions in the next 2-3 weeks

I watched this as a child and the jump scares really pissed me off lol. It seemed incredible to me then and very mediocre now. Great reaction, though.
I certainly don't agree with Chi's characterization of the film as a masterpiece haha, but everyone has their own taste!

The movie "Sherlock Holmes" from 2009 would also be a good one to watch. It is set in a similar time period and is based on famous books.

I remember watching this movie as a kid. There's another movie called "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" that is similar in style. It's like a comic book depiction of old folk stories with many interesting characters.

How do the girls choose what movie to react to?
Other channels have Patreon polls and member suggestions. Would they ever consider that?

Watching Chi simp over Velkan was actually adorable. I love how she simply refuses to accept it when something bad happens, and she threatens Van Helsing if he kills him. So cute.

Its a bit annoying that you prioritize new reactions on movies that you have already reacted to before. I can understand it when it comes to real classics but this is one is definitly not in that category. Its so many better things to watch.

The CGI is a bit dated by today's standards, but the movie is still fun to watch and I really like Hugh Jackman.
The plan was actually to make a series out of Van Helsing. That's why the ending happened the way it did, so that Van Helsing and his sidekick could go on a new mission.
Unfortunately the studio didn't moved on with the plan. I think even though the first movie isn't perfect it could have been something great.
The first monster was a fantasy character from the classic novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jakyll and Mr. Hyde. The short version is that Dr. Jakyll becomes Mr. Hyde, an evil alter ego, with the help of a potion he developed.
Of course the character from the novel has little to do with the Mr. Hyde in this movie. The character in this movie is really more reminiscent of an evil Hulk.
You two should really watch more fantasy movies like this; it was so fun watching the movie with the two of you.
A movie with a similar theme is The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (2003). The movie came out at the same time as Van Helsing, although it's probably not well known these days.
Maybe the movie would be a good candidate for a reaction.😉
As always, that was an awesome reaction, ladies.💜

While this movie is entertaining, there were only 3 redeeming qualities of this film: Kate Beckinsdale and her outfit, the vampire waltz scene, and watcing with Katie and Chi!
Great to see you again, Katie!

Kate Beckinsale was the actress who played Anna, she is in another great vampire movie "Underworld" (2003), I think you'd love the costumes/design of the movie - very "Fashion" as Chi likes to say. Enjoyed this reaction a lot, your reactions always make good movies great though.

Despite the CGI being a little dated, I love this movie. Hugh is great, and Kate is amazing. Love the friar (I always forget his name). He’s hilarious. Just a fun movie. The Munchies should love this one!
