Game of Thrones 5x4 Reaction

Game of Thrones 5x4 Reaction

Joffrey would have handled the sparrow situation way better.

Manospondylus

It’s really interesting how we get two totally different perspectives on Rhaegar Targaryen in this episode.

Joe Stüll

Yup and not just her last words she used to say that to him all the time.

Nova

I'm a fan of Game of Thrones and I love watching your reaction to it, I cannot wait for the next episode, be ready for a lot more surprises to come

Dualin

I wouldn't have had Jon's strength.

Manospondylus

It was so cute how Chi and Hella fought for Jon's honor.😅 That was a great reaction, ladies, as always!💜

Digitalversager

The statue of a woman with wings at the top of the city is a harpy

Piranther

As the Red Woman turn back towards Jon Snow she says, "You know nothing, Jon Snow". Those were the last words from Ygritte as she was dying. There was no way for her to know those words would be so significant to him. She is telling him that the supernatural stuff is real.

I always loved the idea of the fight in the last scene - quality vs quantity. On one side, you have Grey Worm and Barristan Selmy, two fantastic fighters, on the other side you have a bunch of whatever Sons of the Harpy fighters. I think the fight scene is done very well, kept me on my toes all the way to the end. But yes, Ser Barristan deserved so much more :( Second Sons and Sons of the Harpy are not connected in any way. As for Littlefinger... this show is called "Game of Thrones", and well, Littlefinger is one of the best players of the game. He always seems to be a lot of steps ahead of everyone else. Looking forward to more Season 5 episodes!

Igor

The fight scenes in this episode were crazy

SlavicGold

That blue goes well with Hela.

Manospondylus

It has deviated, mostly in the Sansa, Jaime and now Mereen storyline, but is still covering the last two books A Feast for Crows and A Dance of Dragons.

Patrick

I haven't read the books in forever and I don't remember any of this. Has the show passed the books at this point?

Hello Munchies. If you remember, when Daenerys and her army took Mereen they pulled down a statue that was half bird, half woman. That creature is a Harpy, so the sons of the Harpy are still clinging to the old ways of Mereen. George RR Martin didn't invent the Harpy. Harpies are part of Greek Mythology and Zeus(the strongest god) would send Harpies to punish people who defied the gods, sometimes the Harpies would even snatch up people and carry them to hell. I think the Sons of the Harpy have some really cool masks. The word HARPY can also be used as an insult to refer to a woman that is nagging or overly aggressive. It's rarely used in English now, but you'll come across the usage in old books. The three woman warriors from Dorne are known as the Sand Snakes - Sorry Chi. They are the daughters of Oberyn Martell, the guy who died fighting The Mountain, and they are out to get revenge for Daddy and hate Cersei almost as much as Hela. Oberyn Martell, was played by Pedro Pascal. He might have died in Game of Thrones but his acting career lives on. He is one of the main characters in a TV series -also on HBO- called The Last of US, and everyone is talking about the latest episode of that show at the moment in the United States. He is also in The Fantastic Four -A Marvel Movie- that will come out later this year. He also is in some Star Wars stuff, but I don't want to spoil anything for you.

I was literally about to write the same comment. It becomes even more infuriating that the actor wrote them a poignant letter describing how he thinks Selmy still has an important role to play, and the writers responded to that by saying they wanted to kill his character off even more. Sansa's story deviation and Selmy's death are just a few of several fumbles to come. But I won't dissuade Chi and Hela, because there are many great epic moments still awaiting. One of my favorite episodes of the whole series is this season :)

Writers did Selmy dirty in this episode... I haven't read all the books, but he should have at least been given couple more seasons from what I understand. I think it's important to kill off characters to keep the stakes of a story high and for the plot to move forward. Especially in a show like GoT. But I don't see any reason why his sacrifice was justified. Selmy, one of the greatest living swordsmen, who had survived multiple kings, wars, and betrayals with his honor intact, only to be killed off in a random street skirmish against amateur fighters. Remember his final line to the Kingsguard? "Even now I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake!"

Valar Morghulis. Farewell Ser Barristan, you kept your honor.
