Another type of the "crazy good" people are the hurricane hunters, who fly airplanes into hurricanes to gather information. There is a made for TV movie called "Storm Seekers" that deals with them. I don't know of them appearing in any theatrical movies.

We have had some really big tornadoes in the Chicago area where I live. I belong to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and there was one that went through the middle of Oak Lawn in 1967 that killed several people and i think 300 injured. They used the VFW as a triage area before sending to the hospital.

In the US, there is an area we call "Tornado Alley." It's in the central parts of the US, like Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and a few neighboring states. It used to be more of a "tornado season," but now, with climate change, wtfk. I always felt like this movie probably inspired many more tornado chasers and disaster movies. But anyway, now that y'all have seen this movie, I think you should follow this particular director's(Jan de Bont) other big film(His best) and watch "Speed." πIf you start following that "disaster" movie thread, after a while, the disasters will end up being the movies themselves. π€·πΎββοΈ
