Good Morning, Vietnam Reaction

Good Morning, Vietnam Reaction

Comments

Good movie. Good and insightful commentary.

Chrono Gamer

Would love to see you react to The Jungle Book (1994) with Jason Scott Lee and Lena Headey, it was one of my favorite movies!

Oracle Raven

Chi is now a James Brown fan. 🎶 And of course Hella didn't make it without crying 😢

Derek Toth

I was a teenager when the vietnamese war happened, and every evening there was footage from the war shown on TV ( it was the first "TV" war ) and even here in Denmark there was demonstrations to stop the war. ( When the US left there was a lot of South Vietnam refugees though. The Fear of oppression drove over 800,000 South Vietnamese to flee in the decades following the Fall of Saigon in 1975.) Even here in Denmark we got Vietnamese refugees. And they didn't liked the North Vietnamese that's for sure. Some of the refugees become my friends and I still have contact to a couple of my friends from back then. And now it's safe for them to visit Vietnam again, but that took many years

Johnny Sondergard

I've always loved this movie, which shows a different side of the pre-Civil War and the Vietnam War as a whole. I like the movies that portray how the world isn't simply black and white but filled with many grays and sometimes rainbows. By the way, no matter which side you're on, Tuan did betray Robin Williams's character; he broke his trust. Both Vietnamese and Americans were killed or injured in that bombing.

I do think you girls are the best especially when you're covering these movies about, but not limited to the war. You're real and I appreciate that. I wish all of my Vietnam Veteran brothers could watch you and appreciate what wonderful young ladies you are. Thank you.

Stuart A Naylor

As a Vietnam Veteran, I think The Quiet American is an amazing movie and might get to the truth about outside influences that could have exacerbated the unrest in Vietnam. Also the music with the single female voice is a singer called Hong Nhung and she in wonderful. Anyway these girls have the most entertaining reaction channel I've seen. I truly enjoy watching them. And I love spending time in Vietnam now. I took my oldest granddaughter to Vietnam in 2017 and I'm going to bring she and her sister again later this sumer

Stuart A Naylor

This movie was filmed in Thailand. A very good movie that was filmed in Vietnam was The Quiet American from 2002. It has Michael Caine and Brandon Frasier. You should react to it. Congratulations on getting your channel back!

Joe K

Thank you ladies for reminding us that we are all human.

Chris Johnson

It was so interesting to hear your comments on the accuracy of the depiction of Vietnam and Vietnamese culture at that time, and indeed to hear your views looking back at that time. This kind of exposure to a different culture (I'm British) is so important. Thank you.

Stephen Paynter

Great work for reacting to this, Munchies! 🙂

Duncan

Robin Williams does a masterclass in this - mostly improvised! I would also say that I would melt in Vietnam, being from Scottish / Irish background 😂

Duncan

Regarding Robin Williams: Dead Poet Society is one of the only "classic" American films I haven't seen. But I have an intuition they'd really like it, at least from the clips I've watched, and people I've talked to about it.

Henry N.

I agree with Proto Type, I think the girls would enjoy the deep emotional impact of the Fisher King. A great story of tragedy/fall from grace and redemption. Fantastic acting. Mercedes Ruehl won the Academy Award that year for best actress in a supporting role for her work in this movie. Much of the mystical imagery/allegory was Asian in style.

Tim

I wouldn't say it's a sad ending, I find it more bittersweet. R.I.P. Robin Williams, he was such a brilliant actor. Great movie and a good conclusion from you at the end, you ladies are awesome. I think another good movie that deals with the Vietnam War is Born on the Fourth of July. It's a drama with Tom Cruise in the lead role, I'm sure you'll would like it. Another good Movie with Robin Williams is The Bicentennial Man. It's a bit of a sci-fi comedy. As always, it was fun reacting with you ladies!💜

Digitalversager

The Fisher King = Robin Williams Skill Level > 9000

Proto Type

Another thing. I loved that Hella was supporting Hauk after they removed him from the job. His only fan and supporter 🤣

Daryl

It’s really cool to see that the language from another country is actually speaking the language of that country! Hollywood usually mixes everything together sometimes and it becomes a huge mess. Fake sets, fake nationalities, etc.. And Robin Williams was so good in this. I felt so emotional as he left the country 🥲 Great reaction again, girls!!!!

Daryl

My mother is from Saigon, she always liked this movie. Maybe we should have sent more comedians to Vietnam.

Grumpy Monk

A lot of the jokes in his show was over my head too and I'm a 57 year old American. I lot of his jokes were specific to the 50's and 60's culture.

Eric Muirhead

Chi dancing and singing James Brown made my week lol! It's nice to see a movie based on comedy instead of the horrors of Vietnam and America. Made me laugh seeing you two get the joke after it was explained in Vietnamese. Apparently a lot of the movie was filmed in Thailand. This was a really fun reaction to watch.

Looney

This is actually based on true events. Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), starring Robin Williams, was loosely based on a true story. The film was inspired by the real-life experiences of Adrian Cronauer, a U.S. Air Force sergeant who worked as a DJ for the Armed Forces Radio Service in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) during the Vietnam War in 1965. Adrian Cronauer co-wrote the original script concept, but the final film took significant liberties for entertainment purposes. Despite the differences, Cronauer appreciated Robin Williams' performance and acknowledged that the film captured the spirit of what he had tried to do with his broadcasts.

King Bob

There is an episode of Family Guy when Brian and Stewie go to Germany as tourists, and they ask why the phamphlet doesn’t mention anything between 1939 and 1944 and the Tour guide responds that nothing happened and everyone had fun and was on vacation lol. Sometimes Chi reminds me of that guy when certain topics come up lol

fan

Great reaction. Another movie I like about a disc-jockey is a low budget movie called Pontypool. It wouldn't make a great reaction because most people haven't heard of that movie and it's a small movie, but it's an interesting little horror movie. This movie really does make Vietnam look beautiful. I definitely want to check it out. I'm from New Orleans so the heat and humidity doesn't scare me.

Steven Roy

Yep. I went to school with a Richard Head. You can just imagine his nickname...

Jeffrey Roberts

Lol ladies yes "Dick" aside from its other meaning is a totally normal name in English. It is short for Richard. And yes, we all think it's funny.

Joel Purvis

A great movie about Vietnam is 'Heaven & Earth' (1993).

S M

I really hoped this movie would be on the channel. Too many Vietnam movies are only about fighting. I loved seeing all the culture and language here. Another awesome reaction.

matthew

One of the best Vietnam War movies ever made!

Nathanial House

Thank you for this reaction. This movie has some serious moments peppered in but the war itself was not the focus. The juxtaposition of the bombings going on while What a Wonderful World is being played is heart breaking. Hella, the song is not intended to be sad, but seeing it in this context I can see how it seems that way. The line he says about the vice president has a lot of abbreviations. VP = vice president, VIP = very important person, QT= quiet or keep it on the down low, KP= kitchen duty in the services. I don't remember what other ones he used but he was basically saying they would be in trouble and be forced to work in the kitchen. I've said it before and I will say it again. You ladies are lovely inside and out and I appreciate your honest commentary.

Jeffrey Roberts

I hope Casino(1995) is soon because it kind of goes along with Goodfellas and is also based on real events and people.

Manospondylus

I had the pleasure of meeting the real Adrian Cronauer. He gave a lecture when I was at university in Alabama in the 80's This movie is based on him and his job as a radio personality for Armed Forces Radio Saigon. His comedy and some of his experiences and disagreements with his superiors was real, but he did not befriend a VC, wasn't around a terrorist bombing and did not have to leave the country. He was very popular though, and he did teach an English class.

James Swainston

Hella recognized Forest Whittaker (Garlick) because she saw him in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He Played the rebel commander Saw Gerrera who died early on in the movie when he refused to leave when his base was being assaulted and destroyed.

David Collins

R.I.P. Robin Williams .Good movie.

Scotty Dawg

You girls should watch "Indochine" a film set in colonial French Indochina (Vietnam) during the 1930s to 1950s

Johnny Sondergard

VP- Vice President VIP- Very important person PC- Press Conference QT- quiet or secret VC- Viet Cong MIA- Missing In Action KP- Kitchen Police/Patrol

Manospondylus

One of the few movie about the war my father would watch.

Manospondylus

Great choice! When it comes to america "Vietnam-movies", I think its two really classical ones that you have´nt yet reacted on are: - The Deer Hunter (1978) - Platoon (1986) The first one focuses on the wars impact on a group of american soldiers, the latter focuses more on the war in Vietnam.

aaarskog

Can’t wait!!! ^o^

Daryl

Wow! Been a long time since your last Robin Williams reaction.

Noal McInnis

Yay!!!!!

David Collins

I'm very curious as to your reactions. Will see when I get off work.
