The Godfather: Part II Reaction

The Godfather: Part II Reaction

Comments

Poor little Hela. So emotional...

Poefan95

it took me a long time to fully understand why Frank Pentangelli changed his testimony when he saw his brother, but the book made it make sense. The "Omerta" is a code of silence between Mafia members about their activities. When Frank's brother walked into the courtroom with Michael and saw Frank on the stand about to testify, he had a look of shock and horror seeing his brother up there about to break the Omerta. When Frank saw his brother's face and reaction, he couldn't go through with it anymore.

CS

Add The Town and American Gangster to the list plz. Thank you ❤️

Satoru

That little debate you two had in the intro was pretty cool y'all should do that more often. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾"Golf clap" . . . . .You all should look into watching a classic called "Men At Work."🤔🍿

RichieBIV

Since you watch these gangster movies, can you please do a reaction to Oscar (1991)?

Jirka Hloušek

Again, if The Munchies, must… Please watch Barry Lyndon. I didn’t know anything about cinematography before that. I did after 🙂

Duncan

Duncan

I think you just won ‘Username Of The Month’ award….

Duncan

Nah. The ladies are right. The rich and powerful convinced the slobbering masses that immigrants are a problem. Even now. The statistics overwhelmingly prove otherwise. It's just a distraction so you don't notice the rich and powerful reaching into your wallet. They don't even try to hide it and people still fall for it. Follow the money. It's not going to the man that picks your produce from the field....

Cornelius P. Stranglefart, Attorney at Law D.D.S.

Chi's deadpan "you sonovabitch" cracks me up everytime.

Cornelius P. Stranglefart, Attorney at Law D.D.S.

Yeah…. these are the ‘unintentional comic relief’ moments that make the reactions enjoyable 🙂

Duncan

It was quite funny though 😂 such sweet ladies

Daniel Sheargold

2:00:40 Hella: Salute is something in German… Chi: They speak Spanish… WHAT MOVIE HAVE YOU BEEN WATCHING FOR FIVE FUCKING HOURS ITS ITALIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe Laster

I would like to see the Munchies watch No Country For Old Men because it includes the viewpoint of the sheriff and other law enforcement officers.

SpunToTheLeft

It's not really quite fair to compare the current day to the early 1900s, when the American Project was taking in immigrants in droves for a specific purpose. I don't support the mass deportation of families (serious criminals, yes), but America still takes in by far the most legal immigrants per year compared to any other country.

Henry N.

When I was in school, back in the 70's, some people would have one dollar bills pinned to their shirt on their birthday.

SpunToTheLeft

Vito proudly not accepting the charity from his (ex) boss, then taking a pear home to his wife. Cuts me every time 🥹

Duncan

It does take a while to react when the movies are so great. I feel that a mark of a good movie is the ‘wow’ factor (as in, you’re stunned, and have to take it away for a while). I did make a mistake in that I thought Part 1 was better. It’s not. Part 1 is an easier movie to watch, Part 2 is much more challenging. I like to watch Part 1 more, but I admire Part 2 as a much better piece of art (and therefore a better movie), if that makes sense. (Forgetting for a moment about the direction)… Vito’s journey during this movie is absolutely beautiful. And it just adds to the character (Hella - you were absolutely correct in the introduction to this reaction; sorry Chi but you are good too 🙂). If anyone wants to watch another three hour plus movie about a person’s tragedy and downfall, I absolutely recommend Barry Lyndon (Stanley Kubrick). It’s a big ask to request The Munchies to do another epic 🙂

Duncan

2:13:26 Hella: “She doesn’t clean the dishes?” Based 🤣

69. Its the first Holy Communion that Vito went through, receiving the body and blood of Christ. Having a son is very important to every family which is why Michael asked hows the baby. Hail Mary is a prayer by the church. I'm part of the same Church. And it kind of makes sense why Vito was always asking, " Wheres Michael?" because he has always been in the background like him sitting in the room alone at the end of t the movie. He always showed up late. Excellent movie review. On to the Next.

Saints_Madness

I do hope the Munchies react to Donnie Brasco 🙂

Duncan

A few great crime movies I didn't see mentioned- 'Once Upon a Time in America' (1984), 'A Bronx Tale' (1993), 'Sleepers' (1996), 'Donnie Brasco' (1997)

S M

Another awesome movie 😊 ( regarding The Godfather Part III is considered by many to be a major disappointment and a flop in the history of cinema. )

Johnny Sondergard

Ah come on, be fair…. we all like fried egg and chips for dinner! 🙂 *checks notes - fried egg and chips probably not on Vietnamese dinner menu*

Duncan

This is not quite accurate - america is far less accepting of immigrants than at the time Vito Corleone immigrated to the US. About 1 million people migrated to the US in 1900, at a time when the population was about 75 million, putting the growth rate from immigration at about 1.3 %. Between july 2022 and june 2023, about 2.8 million people immigrated to the US, during the supposedly lax Biden administration, putting the growth rate due to immigration at 0.83%. Coupled now with the new administration's executive orders to remove the legal status of several hundred thousand Venezuelans and Ukranians, America is far more hostile to immigrants than in the early 20th century before WWI, at least policy wise. All this to say if Vito Corleone had tried to immigrate to the US today, he would certainly be deported.

Austin Lee Moyer

Didn't our girl go to Catholic school?

tommylegless

The conversation between Tom and Pentangeli was about how Romans who failed in a plot to kill the Emperor had to kill themselves to protect their families. Pentangeli got the message and opened his veins while having a hot bath in the traditional manner.

Mr Jackpots

Love watching you girls' reaction, but I have to say, the last five minutes while Hella gave her thesis statement about the movie's themes, I could see Chi's mind fantasizing about what she was going to have for dinner...

Joel Purvis

There’s an ‘Intermission’. ❤️ I forgot about that. Like 2001. Every great movie needs one. Haven’t seen this in ages. Remarkable. 2001 for Munchies next, please 🙏🏻

Duncan

The unspoken primary theme of this movie is Power. Creating it, aquiring it, maintaining it, but most importantly WHY and HOW to use it. Vito was an orphan so family and community were the reason to have power. Micheal became ruthless to maintain power because he saw how ruthless people could be just to take it, but he lost sight of why to have it.

Edward Lewis

Just the final, apparently. Yes - Kendrick Lamar would be hilarious! Or Baddiel and Skinner 😂 (deleted my comment because this isn’t football chat).

Duncan

Really? For every game or just the final? It would be so funny if they got Kendrick Lamar - he played the Superbowl this year.

Steven Roy

Praying Casino is not skipped. It would continue subject of the mob involvement in Vegas.

Manospondylus

I still need to get to that point (seen it before, but ages ago). Note to self - don’t start a three hour and thirty minute movie at 10:30pm! Have to do it in two parts 🙂👍🏻

Duncan

great reaction! love your make-up too

Jesse

Fredo told his nephew he would say a "Hail Mary" to catch a fish. A "Hail Mary" is a Catholic prayer that honors Jesus's mother and is often used to ask for help. It says something about Fredo that he would use such a thing for recreational fishing. haha. The term "Hail Mary" is also used in American Football. When time is running out but you need to score a touchdown, they will just throw the ball very far and "pray" one of their players catch it and make a touchdown. This play is referred to as a "Hail Mary" because the odds are very low it will be successful. You need divine intervention. What's funny is recently the Munchies watched a movie where many people said, "Hail Hydra."

Steven Roy

Agree. I thought it might turn in to a fight between Chi and Hella during their introduction! 😂 I prefer Vito’s way 👍🏻

Duncan

Sounds like 2 votes for the ladies to react to Godthumb. Who else is with us?

Restless Adventurer

3:16:45 that's why he kept fishing with Anthony. He knew Michael wouldn't kill him if his son was around; was a human shield.

Thalanoth

This is trippy asf watching you guys draw comparisons between these movies and Game of Thrones, lol, at it's core, the story are the same principles of life.

Dajefe70

In Sicily they lived by the tradition of vendetta. You always take revenge which creates a cycle of killing which never ends. Remember when Michael went to Sicily and visited the town of Corleone. He asked where all the men where and the reply was that they were dead from vendettas (feuds). When he was courting the girl he saw on the road most if not all of the older women following them were dressed in black. Widows in Italy always used to dress in black. That tradition came with the Mafia to America.

Mr Jackpots

That rug really tied the room together.

Manospondylus

I think Hella is right: Don Vito Corleone had a balanced philosophy about his family and the business, but Michael is so ruthless - he thinks he's protecting his family but his ruthlessness ends up destroying it. The Godfather movies are a grand tragedy.

Prometheus

I love those thumb movies, I never knew about they made a god thumb though. Thank you so much for posting.

fan

1:21:!3 haha she's breathing far too obviously =p

Thalanoth

Sorry, you are wrong about America letting in legal immigrants. Thousands naturalize daily, including my Korean wife in 2022. There is no issue with immigrating legally, just like any other country. Please don't take your opinions from American biased news sources.

James Swainston

0:35 Ahhh yes "Don Cocoa". Head of the feared but tasty Hearshy crime family out of Pennsylvania.

Manospondylus

You like gangster movies. Perhaps you would like to watch a short parody of The Godfather. It is called Godthumb. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0340732/

Restless Adventurer

Yep - me too! 🙂

Duncan

Same!

Ty and Leona

Hell yes! I have been waiting for this reaction all week! Watch and listen to Hella get down with the Italian hand gestures and accent during the Vito and Fanucci scene. Awesome!
