I agree with this; IF they actually want to keep watching it. I am not sure how comfortable they are with the rather adult content, and will fully respect if they choose to only do one season. It must also be quite a lot of work to edit for YT, considering the content.

It's so exciting you ladies are reacting to this series. It's based off my favorite books of the same name by George RR Martin. While influenced by the War of the Roses -civil wars fought for control of England-, the books are mostly set on the fictional continent of Westeros and follow several powerful families as they fight for control of the kingdom. One cool thing is every family has their own symbol/sigil. House Stark: The Dire Wolf House Lannister: The Lion House Targaryen: The many-headed Dragon (The Targaryens conquered Westeros with dragons long ago, but at this time, all dragons are dead). I'm curious if you recognized the actor who plays Ned Stark also played Boromir (as Hela says the guy greedy for the ring) in The Fellowship of the Ring.

i wanted to say 'this is nothing like lord of the rings' but i guess you figured that out by now. still very happy you picked this up, (until season 4 or 5 its well worth the watch and reaction, after it deviates too much from the books) dont worry about it being confusing its supposed to be that way, too many new characters and such, it wil lget clear once the plot thickens maybe as a sidenote, medival rulership/feudalism worked on a retianer basis, all the land belongs to the king, the king basically 'lends' part of the land to lords that look after that part of the land and usually pay taxes and in case of war go help the king. after the land is 'lend' (most) lords inherit the land and responsibility to the king from their fathers. same as the prince inherits the title of the king; thats basically what Ned is to the King a lord in the service of him. Obviously this episode also made it clear that they are friends and had battles against the targarians your guess about it being england is actually not too bad either, as far as i know the storydraws a lot of inspiration from the war of the roses (a war in medival england)

I watched the series but you should know the books and story are written by a degenerate. There are lots of characters and scense that you will find disturbing or simply disgusting. It is borderline pornographic.

Watch the map they show in the intro with every episode. It will change and show different areas and cities that will most likely be the focus for the episode. The series takes place in a world completely different than our own. All different countries and continents. It does have similarities to the medieval times our ancestors experienced. People had to mature much younger because of how difficult life is.

Okay one more comment, the reason Ned beheaded that man was because he ran away, breaking his oath. Ned didn't take any joy from it, but keeping your oath is very important.

The brother and sister at the end are true brother and sister unfortunately 🤮 Although their motivations are explained later in the story, in world history royal families marrying and making babies is not uncommon, it’s why many royal families have inbreeding medical issues. It was primarily used as a means to retain and keep power because you could trust your family more than marrying with a strangers family. A famous example of inbreeding royal family is King Tut. He had tons of defects due to family inbreeding. Although brother and sister marriages were less common, it was usually cousins and other relations

You are going to be in for a wild long ride 73 episodes. This series and Lord of The Rings while based in fantasy and same look sometimes are much different. Even with all the violence and battles in Lord Of The Rings it is more calm compared to Game of Thrones. Which has brutal violence, sex, and drama. But just like Lord of the Rings it has a very good storyline overall and is a true drama with crazy plot changes and twists and turns. Great series overall but you will have to get use to all the violence and sex because there is a quite a bit of it. Also there are going to be many characters you will see in this series it can be hard to keep track at times for sure.

Ladies, it isn’t so much this show that is showing how cruel the men are and how badly used the women are. That is how it actually was back then. Women, especially sisters and daughters to powerful men, were used as political chess pieces. It’s an unfortunate part of the world’s history, but it really happened. This won’t be an easy watch for you, but I am looking forward to watching this series with you.

I look forward to these reactions, at the same time I can't help but empathize with what you're both in for emotionally. This series will not be kind to your feelings. Still I think you will look back and be glad you watched it. Also while the setting is similar to Lord Of The Rings it really is much more of a criticism of Lord Of The Rings in a way. In my opinion LOTR romanticizes feudal monarchy and makes it look noble and desirable. As you've seen, Game Of Thrones shows how ugly patriarchal systems like this were.
