God is Dead and I'm Starving 🔪 2

It’s a late evening at the commander’s tent.

Commander Min stands over his table, documents scattered, reports of misconduct and harassment, and complaints from medical staff.

A soldier enters to announce Kyung-Sun has arrived.

Kyung-Sun walks in slowly, hands in her pockets like she’s already bored.

“You were told to leave Nurse Euna alone.” Commander Min says cold,

“She kept looking at my scars like I was a monster. Thought maybe I should show her what a real monster looks like.” Kyung-Sun replies in a dry tone,

Min slams a fist on the table.

Kyung-Sun doesn’t even blink.

“You don’t get to decide how people see you. You talk to your team like they’re dogs, and now you're hunting the nurses?”

 “She touched me.” Kyung-Sun says,

“She was applying antiseptic,” Min replies,

“I didn’t like how it burned.” Kyung-Sun grins,

Min’s jaw clenches.

He walks to the filing shelf and pulls out a red folder.

“One more report, and you’re going into isolation. That’s a warning. You’re not above it.” Min sternly speaks,

Kyung-Sun pauses.

Her eyes darken, her voice drops, quieter than before, dangerous.

“You’re not going to isolate me.” Kyung-Sun speaks it like it’s a fact,

“Try me.” Min is at his last wits' end,

Kyung-Sun steps forward,

“You’re at war, Commander. You don’t win with nice men. You only win with monsters like me. You chain me up, you better pray your nice soldiers can survive what’s out there.”

Min stares at her.

He knows she’s right.

And that’s the problem.

He cannot deny the raw strength and the mental fortitude of an Enigma Alpha, top of the food chain.

Kyung-Sun, the tallest of her squad mates, no, the whole army, standing almost 7 feet.

A pure weapon made by nature, specifically engineered for war.

A valuable asset to the military.

“You’re not irreplaceable.” Min says,

“Neither is Nurse Euna.” Kyung-Sun smirks,

Silence.

“She's being transferred out tomorrow, I’ve had enough of you harassing her. You go near her again, even look at her, and I will personally see you're drugged and caged. And not even the generals will save you then.”

Kyung-Sun shrugs her shoulders smugly.

She turns to go, her voice flat, devoid of tension, but her large shadow lingers.

“She’s lucky. Most don’t get away from me twice.” Kyung-Sun speaks under her breath,

**

Early morning, a white-dusty fog covers the military camp.

The wounded have already been moved, and Nurse Euna stands near the transport truck, suitcase in hand, escorted by two armed officers.

Kyung-Sun stands alone by the side wall, leaning against the cold metal siding.

Her lit cigarette in her mouth, arms crossed, eyes sharp and fixed on the truck like a predator behind glass.

She watches.

Nurse Euna avoids her gaze.

But. she feels it anyway, crawling up her spine, wrapping around her throat.

Her hands tremble slightly as she clutches her suitcase tightly.

“Are you alright?” One of the officers ask,

“Yeah…Fine.” Euna softly speaks, not wanting Kyung-Sun to hear.

She climbs into the truck.

“She should’ve left in pieces. Lucky girl.” Kyung-Sun murmurs,

She throws the cigarette on the floor and stomps it out, imagining her metal-toed boot on the Omega’s throat.

Crushed.

Dead.

She doesn't move until the truck engine roars to life.

As it starts pulling away, her jaw tightens.

A prey has escaped her.

She exhales slowly.

The truck disappears down the muddy road.
