Title: Remnants of Wac

“I’ll definitely kill that damn old man! Let me go, or in a bit I’ll beat you up too!”

“If you’re not afraid I’ll tear you apart and throw you into the sea to feed the fish when we’re on the boat, you can do it now.”

Hidan’s tone of speech stopped. He seemed to just realize the fact that he could no longer beat his opponent, then he gritted his teeth and said, “You’re cruel, what do you want?”

“Stay quiet here overnight, tomorrow we’ll leave.”

“Fine, but that old man, sooner or later I’ll kill him!”

*SMACK!*

“Kill, kill, kill, all day long only know how to kill! Are you proud debating with an old man who even has trouble walking?”

Hidan immediately held his head and shouted with bulging eyes, “Bastard! You and that old man will all die!”

“Just with you? Add one more word, tonight I’ll split your kidney and stir-fry it for a side dish!”

“You! Bast...”

“Hm?”

Hidan reflexively shut his mouth and covered his waist with both hands. Clearly he didn’t like stir-fried kidney dishes, especially if he had to use his own kidney.

Meanwhile, Shinji felt relieved seeing Hidan finally willing to cooperate.

Although he had joined a terrorist organization like the Jashin Cult, he still had his own boundaries. At least, attacking ordinary people without reason and massacring villagers, he couldn’t do it.

Of course, if someone wanted to hurt him first, he also wouldn’t act self-righteous.

The word ‘kill’ used to feel very far from him, but now he was forced to prepare mentally early on.

That’s because this was a world where big fish eat small fish, and small fish eat shrimp.

Without enough strength to protect himself, he might die from an unidentified AOE someday without knowing who the perpetrator was!

And there would be no one who would enforce justice for him!

Before long, Shinji and Hidan followed the old man home.

“Grandpa, hug~”

As soon as they entered, the old man swiftly and gently picked up his grandchild who was jumping with short legs, and a smile immediately bloomed on his face!

“Lift high~”

“Okay, okay, lift high!”

“Higher, higher~”

“Flying~”

“Father-in-law, the food is ready... Who are these two people?”

The old man was enjoying family happiness, and almost forgot about Shinji and Hidan standing at the door if his daughter-in-law hadn’t come out and asked.

“Oh, yes, almost forgot. These two young men came from outside, happened to pass through our village. Please prepare two more pairs of bowls and chopsticks, then clean up a little room inside. They’ll stay overnight and leave tomorrow.”

“Yes, Father-in-law, I understand.”

The daughter-in-law looked like an obedient person good at household management, but it seemed she wasn’t used to communicating with strangers, so she hurriedly returned to the kitchen.

“Sit as you please. If you want to drink, there are cups over there, pour yourself.”

The old man greeted, then returned to playing with his grandchild, making the little one laugh continuously.

Seeing this scene, Shinji suspected the old man’s earlier words had hidden meaning.

“You must watch your little brother. There are many women and children in this village...”

Was he worried Hidan would hurt his family members?

This worry was indeed excessive. Hidan didn’t even glance at the woman in the room. Right now he was gulping down cold well water greedily, as if he was really thirsty.

Of course, it wasn’t impossible his brain lacked water, so he needed to refill.

Before long, the woman came out carrying the food that had been cooked.

The side dishes were very simple, only three kinds.

Namely stir-fried eggs with green peppers, wild vegetable soup, and pickled salted radish.

Not only was there no shadow of meat, even that stir-fried eggs with green peppers seemed to have just been cooked on the spot, most likely because there were guests.

Fortunately, Shinji and Hidan still had unfinished dry rations, which they could take out to eat.

It was clearly visible that this family’s living conditions were somewhat difficult.

Not that they couldn’t eat at all, but only to that extent.

As someone with emotional intelligence, Shinji understood they had served the best food they had to entertain guests. He should be grateful, not looking for faults.

However, clearly Hidan didn’t think that way at all.

He only stirred a few side dishes with chopsticks, then directly lost interest.

His facial expression immediately turned sour, as if saying with disgust, “Just this? Only livestock food like this given to Hidan-sama?”

“I want to eat katsudon, not livestock fo... Mmm mmm!”

Shinji quickly covered Hidan’s foul mouth again, then said while smiling, “Forgive me, my stupid little brother’s brain disease has relapsed again, he always rambles.”

“Mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm...”

(You’re the one with brain disease, bastard! Believe it or not, I’ll kill your whole family, asshole!)

“What did he say?”

“Oh, he said this dish is too delicious, he bit his tongue.”

“Mmm mmm mmm... mmm!”

(Nonsense! Livestock food like this, Hidan-sama won’t eat it!)

The old man nodded, “Although your unlucky little brother doesn’t look too smart, at least... he has some taste.”

“Ayako’s cooking is famous throughout the village. Every time there’s a feast, those cooks called masters voluntarily ask Ayako to help...”

“Enough, Father-in-law, don’t talk anymore. That’s all... that’s all past matters.” The woman seemed a bit embarrassed, her face reddening from rushing.

Taking advantage while their attention wasn’t on him, Shinji immediately whispered in Hidan’s ear, “Don’t cause trouble. Once we arrive at the Land of Waves, I’ll definitely let you kill to your heart’s content.”

“Hmph!”

Hidan brushed off Shinji’s hand and snorted coldly, but he really no longer acted impulsively.

Perhaps this was what the old saying meant, ‘there’s an antidote for every poison’.

Changing the topic of conversation, Shinji asked with some curiosity, “Grandpa, why isn’t your son visible?”

As soon as this topic was raised, the hand movements of the old man and woman stopped for a moment. Then the old man let out a long sigh.

“Already gone. A few years ago, from who knows where two groups of ninja came, fought fiercely in this village.”

“Fireballs as big as houses just fell... My poor and unfortunate son didn’t even have time to run... Haaah!”

“This isn’t your fault. After all, at that time you were pregnant. We can only blame this bad era, blame... my son’s bad luck.”

After saying that, the old man looked sad, put down his chopsticks, and returned to his room.

After all, a disaster from the sky like this, whoever experiences it is definitely unlucky!

And there’s no place to complain, no place to seek justice.

Even those two groups of ninja who fought to the death here, most likely didn’t care about these ordinary villagers after the incident.

Calculated, it had only been a few years since the last Ninja World War ended. In that era, human lives were truly worthless like grass!

Now it was already considered good enough, at least they were still alive, still able to eat and drink.

-

Title: The Cursed Era

That last dinner felt bland and ended hastily.

Shinji wasn’t the self-righteous minded person who felt obligated to avenge someone just because he received food from them. At most, he would leave more travel money when leaving.

Hidan didn’t even consider the old man’s words a big problem!

Just because of losing one son, what’s the big deal!

In this world, when are there no people dying?

After eating, Shinji and Hidan returned to their room to rest. Meanwhile, the old man’s daughter-in-law took her child back to her parents’ home, probably afraid of becoming gossip material.

Unknowingly, the night grew later.

Shinji suddenly opened his eyes, preparing to quietly sneak out.

However, what somewhat surprised him, there was someone sitting outside the door, as if deliberately waiting for him.

“It’s late at night, Son, where are you going?”

“Hm? You’re waiting for me?”

Shinji was slightly confused. Under the moonlight, the old man’s face looked very calm.

“You and your friend should be ninja, right?” The old man didn’t answer Shinji’s question, but asked with a certain tone.

“This village is very remote, even merchant caravans rarely pass through, so new faces are rare. As soon as you entered the village, I immediately hid and started observing you.”

Shinji raised his eyebrows slightly, “Why?”

The old man sighed, “I was afraid.”

Shinji pondered, as if understanding something.

Then the old man continued, “I wasn’t sure if your arrival would bring danger to this village, so even though I knew you might be very dangerous people, I could only take the initiative to come and ask, then pretend not to know anything and bring you home.”

“You’re afraid the tragedy that happened back then will repeat?”

“Ah, we just lived through a few peaceful years. There’s a saying, once bitten by a snake, ten years trauma seeing rope. How could we not be afraid.”

“So you’re standing here, wanting to stop me?” Shinji was slightly curious.

“What could an old man like me stop.” The old man shook his head, “Nothing more than a gamble.”

“If I win, I go back to sleep. If I lose, I’ll just sleep forever. At my age, I’ve resigned myself.”

Shinji nodded, “No wonder after dinner, you found excuses to send all family members away. You’re afraid of involving them?”

The old man was silent. Actually, he initially wanted to calm these two outsiders, then take his daughter-in-law and grandchild to hide outside for two days.

But outside wasn’t safe either, there were often wild beasts and bandits.

Their group consisted of an old person, a small child, and the only young adult was a woman. If they met wolves or tigers, they wouldn’t survive.

However, after interacting for half a day, and after several deliberate tests, he discovered the situation might not be as bad as imagined.

Although his friend was clearly not a good person, the person before him always restrained himself, and several times stopped his friend’s angry outbursts. All this proved the person before him was a figure who could be communicated with normally, and there was a high probability he wasn’t a random killer.

That’s why he chose to stay alone, to find out their intentions.

Old but brave, this was a clever person!

And very courageous!

That was Shinji’s assessment of the old man.

In this world, the most frustrating thing was ordinary people couldn’t control their own fate, and everything only depended on the good or evil intentions of ‘uninvited guests’.

“Don’t worry, I’m not interested in your place. We’ll leave at dawn.”

“Then I’m relieved. Oh my, it’s so late, sleep, let’s sleep.”

After getting a reassuring answer, the old man finally felt relieved.

Regarding why that person suddenly went out so late and what he would do, he didn’t ask at all. He didn’t want to know.

How could he not understand the principle that the more you know, the faster you die.

He only needed to make sure the other party had no malicious intent, that was enough and satisfying.

However, right at that moment, Shinji suddenly asked, “Was the story you told last night true?”

“All true.”

“Then, do you hate those ninja? Or have you ever thought about taking revenge on them?”

“At my age, does it still matter whether I hate or not? What can I do as an old man, with an orphan and a widow, to take revenge on anyone?”

The old man smiled bitterly, then continued, “I never thought about revenge, and I don’t dare. Now I just want to spend my old age peacefully, helping watch my grandchild grow up.”

“I understand.”

Shinji nodded slowly, then left toward a certain direction.

And staring at Shinji’s back, a trace of pain crossed the old man’s eyes.

Clearly, the pain of losing a son wasn’t at all as simple as he just said.

But even though it was painful and unwilling, what could he do?

The old man had indeed found out the identity of those ninja through various means after the incident. But then what?

The two groups of ninja who brought disaster to that village, one was Kirigakure spies from the Land of Water, and the other was Konoha ninja who chased their enemies all the way here.

And the large fireball that killed his son was released by a Konoha ninja who was trying to kill the enemy to protect his comrade!

Killed unintentionally by a ninja protecting his own country, as a Land of Fire citizen, what could an old man like him do?

Regarding compensation after the incident, it was only aid to rebuild their village, along with a little money and food.

And those who died... had died.

This was war!

So, something like revenge, they didn’t even dare think about it.

Toward ninja, there was only fear, nothing else.

Even if he wanted revenge, who should he look for?

Was it the Kirigakure ninja who happened to come here?

Or the Konoha ninja who released the fireball that unintentionally killed his son?

From the Kirigakure ninja’s perspective, because it was wartime and they were enemies, of course they didn’t care about the life or death of enemy village residents.

And from the Konoha ninja’s perspective, facing enemies, they naturally had to exert full strength. If they held back for fear of impacting others, they could instead endanger their own comrades or even themselves!

Viewed from this side, it seemed no one was wrong.

Then, who was wrong?

Perhaps... this cursed era!

“Tonight’s moon... is truly round.”

“Move aside! You’re blocking my way.”

Right after the old man looked up and praised the moon full of feeling, he immediately heard the sound of a door opening from behind, along with an impolite shout.

The old man immediately trembled in fear. He hurriedly turned around, and saw Hidan’s face that looked like he just returned from a funeral.

“You... why did you also come out?” The old man hurriedly changed to a friendly smile and asked.

Because he suddenly realized a serious problem, namely the ‘tiger’ he used to intimidate... had just left, and happened not to be here!

Without the ‘tiger’s’ obstruction, how would this ‘old fox’ face the ‘wild wolf’ who previously already very much wanted to kill him?

Damn!

Better quickly be gentle and say some good words. This person seemed indeed not too smart, maybe he could be deceived.

However, what the old man didn’t expect, the other party seemed completely uninterested in him.

“You two chattering in front of the door for so long, you think I’m deaf? Quickly move aside, where did he go?” Hidan said very impatiently.

The old man immediately sold out Shinji, pointing in one direction, “That way!”

“Next time you dare say I’m insane, I’ll kill your whole family, hear?”

After glaring viciously, Hidan hurried to chase, his figure quickly disappearing into the night darkness.

The warned old man also wiped the cold sweat on his forehead, then as if suddenly remembering something, he gritted his teeth and walked out as well.

Title: Hair and Fragrant Aroma

Shinji followed the treasure map’s senses and immediately arrived at the dry well in the village.

Because one year the water suddenly stopped coming out, this place had long been abandoned. Even the well mouth was covered with a large stone, probably to prevent someone from accidentally falling in.

And based on the treasure map’s guidance, Shinji knew that the item he was looking for was below.

So, without hesitation, he moved the large stone blocking the top, then lit a torch, jumped, and directly plunged inside.

During the descent, Shinji flipped his hand and there was already a sharp kunai there. He separated both legs to prop against the side walls, using them to increase friction and reduce falling speed, while also stabbing the kunai in his hand into stone gaps in the well body.

Almost in the blink of an eye, he arrived at the bottom of the well and successfully floated right above the mud.

“Based on the senses, it should be here...”

Shinji searched carefully around, and after finding nothing, he began digging downward using the kunai.

However strangely, he dug several meters down but still found nothing.

“Hm? Strange.”

Shinji stopped his movements, then with some confusion took out that Cursed Treasure Map, wanting to see if there was any missed information.

However, right at the moment he took out this item, a sudden change occurred!

The pitch-black scroll suddenly turned to ash, then quickly merged into the mud beneath Shinji’s feet.

Then, that mud as if having life, fused and formed an ancient black treasure chest at a very high speed.

“So that’s how it is.”

After seeing this amazing scene, Shinji pondered.

He had initially speculated, what kind of item could be dug up from the treasure map he got from the system?

Was this so-called ‘treasure’ always at those coordinates?

What if others happened to find it?

And if it was just an ordinary item in this world, like gold and jewels, that was too useless.

But after seeing this scene, his interest reignited!

Although he didn’t yet know what was inside the treasure chest, at least he could place hope.

The so-called ‘treasure’ wasn’t an item truly hidden there, but only when he came to these coordinates, only then could he activate the treasure map in his hand.

Meaning, the treasure map in his hand was actually the real treasure, which only needed to be ‘unlocked’.

Others, even if they stood in the same location as him, still wouldn’t find anything.

And from that earlier scene, Shinji was more certain that what was inside must not be an ordinary item. Otherwise, it wasn’t worthy of those earlier visual effects.

While thinking these things in his mind, his movements weren’t slow. He directly opened the chest decisively.

It’s just that all this time he ignored, no, he should have instinctively deliberately ignored one thing.

Namely, this treasure map’s first name was Cursed!

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

*BOOM!*

Hidan had just been searching around the old well, suddenly startled!

Immediately after that, he saw a somewhat disheveled body leap out from the dry well, and behind it was a large piece of black thing chasing with claws and fangs.

“What the hell is that?!”

“You ask me, I ask who? Quickly come here and help!”

Shinji while dodging, also herded that thing toward Hidan.

Only then did Hidan finally see clearly that dense black thing...

It turned out to be... hair?!

Hidan really wanted to scream: “Don’t come near!”

But he knew Shinji’s nature would definitely drag him into it.

And what was more annoying was...

He couldn’t run faster than that bastard!

No other choice, Hidan could only steel himself.

He initially took out his long black spear, but then annoyedly put it back, and replaced it with a kunai.

Weapons like spears were certainly very good for killing people, piercing one hole.

But could it be used to cut hair?

Hidan while struggling hard to cut all the long black hair around him, gritted his teeth and thought: “After returning, I must get a weapon with greater killing power.”

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

The kunai in Shinji’s hand was swung quickly, defending flawlessly from the hair’s attacks.

And all the severed hair directly lost its vitality, fell to the ground, and disappeared, very strange.

The two fought while retreating. Although the hair seemed unlimited, its strength was limited, its attack mode was single, and so far no other attack methods were discovered.

So for now, the situation was still controllable.

After retreating about fifty meters, that wild long black hair suddenly tensed, and stopped chasing both of them. The hair began slowly being pulled back, and quickly all shrank back into the well.

“It seems this strange thing’s attack range is also limited. Fifty meters plus the well depth... so about ninety to one hundred meters is its maximum attack distance?”

Shinji was analyzing and thinking of strategy, then he heard Hidan ask in a loud voice, “What the hell was that strange thing just now?”

“I also don’t know.” Shinji shook his head honestly.

Hidan didn’t believe it, “Don’t tell me you secretly went out in the middle of the night to enjoy the moon. Besides, I just saw it, that strange thing came out of the well while chasing you! You think I’m stupid!”

After hearing that, Shinji was surprised, “Amazing, you’ve become smart! Has the water in your head finally been drained?”

“Bastard! I’ll beat you up!”

Hidan rolled up his sleeves and wanted to beat up Shinji, but right now Shinji had important matters to do, so he changed the topic:

“I really don’t know what that strange thing is. I came here only to retrieve something I once hid in that well. Who knew I wouldn’t find my item, instead dug out a strange thing like this.”

“What did you hide in the well?” Hidan asked, staring at him very suspiciously.

“Some of my old savings. That all happened before I joined the Jashin Cult.”

Seeing Shinji didn’t intend to explain further, Hidan was too lazy to ask again.

However, Hidan immediately sniffed his nose and showed a strange expression, “Do you smell something? So fragrant!”

“Not right.”

Shinji’s nose was fine, he naturally also smelled this aroma.

And even before he came to this world, he had never smelled an aroma as fragrant as this.

That aroma absolutely couldn’t be described with words, as if all the beauty you could imagine was already contained in it, attracting you to keep approaching, and closer still...

Slowly, a mesmerized expression appeared on Shinji’s face.

But immediately after that, he realized a very strong danger. With his last consciousness, he stabbed the kunai in his hand into his own thigh!

*PUCHI!*

Blood flowed out from the wound, and Shinji successfully freed himself from that strange state by utilizing the double pain.

Looking back, the scene before him suddenly gave him goosebumps!

-

Title: World Change

“Quickly retreat!”

Shinji immediately pulled Hidan back, distancing themselves, then without saying anything directly slapped Hidan twice, waking him up!

Just in that slight moment of carelessness, the two of them had unknowingly already advanced several meters.

Hidan who had just awakened didn’t even have time to retaliate, he was already shocked by the scene before him!

That strange aroma had who knows what kind of magic, it successfully attracted all the poultry around.

Then the two of them saw that strange black hair suddenly appear again from the well, then quickly and accurately coiled around all the chickens, ducks, pigs, and dogs that were attracted to come.

After losing the aroma stimulus, all those animals began struggling in fear.

However it was too late, absolutely useless. Before long, they truly lost movement.

Several moments later, that strange long black hair once again slowly retracted.

And whether it was just an illusion, Shinji even felt that black hair became more shiny and resilient than before.

Meanwhile, those unfortunate animals looked like they were sucked dry, transformed into wrinkled dried corpses, with a terrifying appearance!

This scene could be said to be very shocking to Shinji and Hidan!

“By Jashin, this strange thing can actually eat?” Hidan almost cursed.

Shinji’s expression also became serious, realizing that this strange thing he dug up might be a disaster.

And...

“Do you smell it? That strange aroma appeared again.”

Hidan was stunned for a moment, then touched the side of his face that had just been slapped, and said with some disbelief, “This aroma is used to lure prey? What strange thing is this actually?”

Thinking that he himself almost got trapped, Hidan’s face became somewhat unsightly.

If he was really coiled by that strange thing, it was hard to say whether he could ultimately escape.

Even, if the worst situation happened, wouldn’t he be ‘eaten’ for a very long time!

Just thinking about it already felt terrifying!

“While this strange thing can only move in this area, let’s quickly leave.” Hidan suggested.

If the opponent was human, no, even if it was a god, Hidan wouldn’t be afraid.

But facing a strange thing like this, Hidan really had no desire to fight it desperately.

Absolutely unnecessary!

Shinji also agreed with Hidan’s words, it’s just...

In the night darkness, at some point, many faint shadows suddenly appeared around.

They were all villagers lured by the special aroma emitted from the well, and clearly had already lost their sanity!

If he and Hidan just left like that, it was estimated not a single person in this village would survive.

Although Shinji didn’t consider himself a good person, and rarely interfered in other people’s affairs.

But the chaos he created himself, then just left like that, and the victims were a group of unfortunate people, this couldn’t be accepted in his heart.

That was the same as acting despicably!

Besides, he was unwilling to just leave like that!

Although digging for treasure instead dug up a ‘monster’, who dared guarantee that this ‘monster’ wasn’t a ‘treasure’?

And think about it, wasn’t subduing monsters (Jinchuuriki/Bijuu) then getting loot (power) already there since ancient times.

If he didn’t try, Shinji really wouldn’t be at peace!

So, Shinji asked in a calm tone, “Are you afraid?”

(Hey, my emotional nature!)

Hidan immediately replied with a stiff neck, “Hah? Me afraid? Whoever’s afraid, he’s a grandson!”

“Good, then you go first. I’ll take care of the people around here first.”

“Why should I!”

Hidan was immediately anxious!

Then, seeing Shinji’s strange gaze, he immediately corrected himself, “I mean, these people can be used as bait, to attract that monster’s attention.”

Shinji shook his head, “Can’t. Didn’t you notice just now? That strange thing clearly looked a bit different after eating.”

“The strength and quantity before already made us a bit difficult. If you let it eat all these people, are you sure you can still defeat it?”

Hearing that, Hidan felt there was indeed some truth, but he didn’t want to admit it. He only snorted, “Then why not you go first, and I take care of the villagers?”

“I’m confident I can finish everyone in the shortest possible time, so they don’t cause chaos. Can you?”

“What can’t I do, at most I’ll kill them all and sacrifice them to Jashin!”

Shinji glanced at him with a look like seeing a fool, “You’ll kill them one by one, until finished, definitely already too late. Talk much, actually you’re afraid, right.”

“Bastard! Hidan-sama never knew how to write the word ‘afraid’! Open your eyes wide and watch how I’ll tear that monster apart!”

In anger, Hidan grabbed two kunai from his pocket, cursing, and walked toward the dry well.

Meanwhile, Shinji thought in his heart...

(Such an illiterate, let alone the word ‘afraid’, you probably don’t know how to write many other words either!)

After complaining, Shinji began doing the actual business.

He took out a kunai from his pocket, cut his wrist, then swung it forward forcefully!

A large amount of blood floated in front of him, then quickly fused into a ball.

*SWISH!*

*SWISH!*

Shinji shot several compressed blood bullets at the ground with a pistol-shaped hand, adjusting the strength.

Only then did a thin smile appear at the corner of his mouth.

“Compared to being eaten, a mild concussion shouldn’t be too bad.”

With Shinji’s activation, a series of compressed blood bullets were shot from the blood ball in front of him.

Although some ‘bullets’ missed, most accurately hit the heads of those villagers.

Almost every villager who was hit directly rolled their eyes, fainted and fell to the ground.

Although the aroma emitted from the well had strong magic, it was impossible to make unconscious people immediately stand up again.

If that happened, it wouldn’t be persuasion anymore, but full control!

Clearly, that strange thing in the well wasn’t that strong.

Thus, Shinji, as if playing a shooting game, quickly ‘finished off’ all those ‘zombies’, not letting them break through the ‘safe zone’.

He showed extraordinary speed and efficiency!

Meanwhile, what was Hidan doing?

This bastard actually took advantage while the monster in the well hadn’t come out. He moved the large stone beside it, and directly pressed it on top of the well.

Going down was impossible, in this lifetime would never go down!

Hidan thought in his heart: (I’ll just ‘seal’ this strange thing below, done right?)

“Success!”

Hidan patted the dust on his hands, his face full of pride, looking like a genius.

It’s just, why did his feet feel a bit itchy?

He looked down, and that strange black hair had already snaked out through the gaps, ‘gripping’ his ankle!

-

Title: I Don’t Have Fire Element!

*BANG!*

The large stone hit the ground, and a large amount of black hair spewed out again.

Hidan who lost the initiative from the start could only run hard and defend with all his might!

If he hadn’t made a quick decision to slash his own ankle, not caring about hurting himself, he would definitely already be in that strange thing’s ‘stomach’ now.

However, even so, his condition being so close to the well mouth was very dangerous.

Moreover, his strongest jutsu, Death Controlling Possessed Blood, was completely ineffective against this strange thing.

This naturally made Hidan very frustrated!

When he glanced that Shinji had finished dealing with the villagers around, Hidan immediately shouted loudly, “How do we deal with this strange thing? It’s endless!”

At that moment, Shinji didn’t rush to help Hidan. Instead, he began observing and remembering seriously.

“From opening the chest to suddenly being attacked, then escaping from the dry well... black hair... strange aroma that can’t be refused by living beings... eating...”

“It’s impossible for something to be unsolvable, there must be something missed... what is it...”

“Hey! Why are you daydreaming?! Quickly come here and help, I can’t hold on anymore!” Hidan’s urgent voice immediately rang out.

Just in that short time, he only had one kunai in his hand. The other fell who knows where.

If it weren’t for that strange thing seemingly only having attack instinct and rigid attack mode, Hidan might have already sunk in that dense sea of black hair.

However, even though Hidan was already fighting desperately, defeat seemed only a matter of time.

Because Hidan could never cause effective damage to that strange thing’s main body. Just cutting the black hair used for attacking was completely useless.

Facing Hidan’s request for help, Shinji completely ignored it. Instead, he shouted, “Hold on a bit longer! I’m observing this strange thing’s weakness!”

“Akagi Shinji! You bastard! I’ll remember you!” Hidan cursed, seeing the other party really had no intention of helping, he could only pump up his spirit again and swing his machete wildly.

Meanwhile, Shinji who had just been interrupted in his train of thought by Hidan, began reconstructing.

“Based on previous observations, this strange thing seemingly doesn’t have true intelligence, only acts based on instinct...”

“And there’s one very important thing, when that thing attacks, we didn’t smell any aroma. On the contrary, after it was pulled back into the well, only then did it emit an enticing aroma.”

“If it could use it anytime, there’s no reason to do this. In fact, if that thing released the aroma from the start, then attacked us, Hidan and I might have already fallen into the trap then.”

“So, according to reasonable estimation, that monster should have two behavior modes: one is persuasion mode, emitting aroma to attract prey into its hunting range. The other is predator mode, using black hair to capture prey. So far, these two modes seemingly can’t appear simultaneously.”

“But... not enough! Just knowing this isn’t enough to completely solve this strange thing. Then, what’s its weakness?”

Shinji took several deep breaths, calming himself, and ignored the rest. After all, even if Hidan was caught, he wouldn’t die in a short time. This gave him more chances to observe.

So, he stopped forcing guesses, chose to forget the previous deduction, and began reviewing from the beginning.

“Going down... opening the chest... being attacked...”

“Wait!”

“Why was I attacked?”

Shinji recalled the situation when he opened the box and was attacked, and suddenly he realized a detail he had been ignoring all this time.

Namely, the black hair’s attack target initially wasn’t him, but rather... the torch in his hand!

Yes, that’s right!

Because of surprise, at that time he only thought about getting out of the well, so he ignored this point.

If the first attack target at that time was himself, he would definitely have been hit by the surprise attack, and it wouldn’t have been easy for him to escape.

Recalling it, that strange thing attacked and extinguished the torch, only then did it turn to chase him. That’s why he only looked slightly disheveled when escaping.

After setting aside the ridiculous assumption that the strange thing had a grudge against torches, the biggest possibility was...

“Shinji, you bastard! If you don’t immediately hel...”

“It’s fire!”

“Huh? What?”

“This strange thing’s weakness is most likely fire!”

“Are you sure?”

“Trust me! Quickly use Fire Element to burn it!”

“Good! I’ll burn... I’ll burn your whole family! I can’t use Fire Element at all!!!”

Hidan’s angry shout made Shinji feel embarrassed.

“Damn, I was too excited, I forgot this.”

Let alone Fire Element, the two of them were raw trash who couldn’t use ninjutsu at all!

Thinking this, Shinji turned around and ran!

“Bastard! Are you really running away?! You... take me too! Damn!”

Hidan initially showed an expression of disbelief, then he started cursing!

(Although I’m not human, but you’re really a dog!)

(I don’t want to play anymore!)

(I want to go back to the Jashin Cult!)

Hidan who felt himself abandoned directly thought to retreat. He no longer fought desperately, and immediately wanted to get out of that strange thing’s attack range, then escape.

However, easy to enter, hard to exit.

How could that unsated black hair let the only food ‘before its eyes’ escape?

So, Hidan... was trapped!

He found himself as if stuck here.

He could retreat before because the two of them worked together, plus the distance was quite far.

But now only he remained, and he recklessly ran beside that monster’s nest. How to escape?

Once his heart was in chaos, his movements also became chaotic.

Hidan who could still hold on initially, suddenly made a big mistake. When he came to his senses, both his legs were already coiled by black hair.

When he tried to cut it again with the old trick, the hairs around didn’t give him another chance, and directly swarmed him!

Although Hidan swung the kunai in his hand with all his might, his attack range was too small, and in the end he was caught.

A large amount of black hair coiled him, quickly wrapping Hidan into a cocoon.

Hidan could feel those strange things trying to crawl in through his mouth, nose, and ears.

He as if immediately understood why those animals ended up with such a terrible death earlier.

Right now, even Hidan wasn’t sure whether his Immortality could withstand this.

“This is all because of that bastard Shinji! He ran away at the critical moment! If I survive, I’ll definitely kill him!”

Just when Hidan closed his eyes and cursed someone in his heart thousands of times, he suddenly felt burning heat, as if his skin would be burned!

Shinji at some point returned, holding two wooden buckets and pouring the liquid in them onto the black hair to his heart’s content, then took out a lighter from his waist, and directly threw it!

*BOOM!*

The blazing fire directly shot up high!

He left earlier not really abandoning Hidan to escape, but rather after realizing the two of them couldn’t use Fire Element, he ran to the village to collect oil.

That thing was very hard to find, that’s what caused his actions to be slightly slower.

However, thankfully he managed to return before Hidan was ‘eaten’, bringing all the fuel he could find!

“Damn, now let’s see if you can still live?”

Seeing a large amount of black hair writhing and struggling in the blazing flames, then burning up, Shinji decisively poured all the remaining fuel he had into the dry well, and then threw the last lighter in his hand!

In the soaring flames, he seemed to hear that strange thing’s lament, which sounded so melodious and beautiful!
