They say life comes at you fast,

and boy howdy did a lot of life come at me the last couple of months.

I was doing pretty good in July, getting caught up writing and trying to meet deadlines so when my friends asked me to visit the first week of August I thought it would be a nice change of pace and I could see friends I hadn't seen in over a year.

So with excitement and a plan in mind to still get some work done I drove the 11 hours to visit my friends in Indianapolis.

But my second day there I hurt my knee in the lamest way possible! Always wear grippy socks or shoes while playing VR fighting games.

So instead of spending time with my friends at the zoo or swimming or walking through a very walkable city (and searching the malls to expand my own style) I spent 10 days on their couch praying I hadn't somehow torn a ligament.

But on the 4th day my friend got into a car accident and totaled his car. Everyone involved is fine other than a bruised rib of his and he decided that like a lot of people he is just not meant to drive and rather than be a hazard on the road my friend, and his girlfriend, would be the sole driver. Which is fine...once they get another car. So insurance being what it is meant I was the driver for most of my time there.

That isn't to say we didn't have fun while I was there. I got to play the Avatar rpg game and can't recommend it enough, and we successfully warded off the rise of cthulu in Arkham Horror because my character was too stubborn to believe monsters exist lol

By the time it was time for me to leave I was able to hobble to my car and my life, or my poor decision planning, being what it is instead of driving straight back home, I picked up my ex in Nebraska! She and I remained friends and she was to visit me for my birthday and since I was "in the area" I offered to pick her up so she wouldn't have to spend the next 24 hours on 7 different buses or 36 hours on a train with an 8 hour layover in chicago. (Yes planes exist but they're soooo expensive!)

I get her to my home, we saw 3 movies during my birthday week (taking advantage of multiple discounts) and my leg was doing well enough by then that my mom, brother, ex, and I went to a vr arcade. Yes I am dumb enough to try it again lol

I survived and nearly a week later I drove her home. The then 13 hour drive up there was doable since I had someone to talk to and keep me awake. I've done long solo drives before and I had a phone full of heavy metal and audiobooks to keep the boredom at bay. Which would've been fine, if I wasn't me and my stress/anxiety induced insomnia wasn't such a dick and only allowed me 3 hours sleep.

I miraculously survived basically a 26 hour drive with little more than a nap! But I made it.

But between the manic energy still coursing through my veins and the sweltering heat in my room, even with blackout curtains and three fans going at full blast it was still 96 degrees, when I got home I couldn't sleep! I finally crashed, in my bed, after 41 hours. Which is just as well since that meant I slept during the night.

Finally home and rested I got back to work. Or I tried to anyway. The next two days my brain was in a fog and I couldn't figure out why. It's been suggested to me that I needed to rest and relax. Which I agreed. I would do my best to finish the chapter I was working on then I would take a couple of days off. However it was too late. I woke up that morning in such miserable pain even my hair hurt and I could not stop coughing.

My body basically forced me to take the next week off as I practically slipped in and out of a coma. The only time I was awake was to eat chicken noodle soup and down another glass of orange juice before passing back out. And that's how I spent my first week of September.

I'm pretty much back to full health, I still have a slight cough and my knee is still in pain but I'm doing what I can to recuperate and still get work done while I can. Because the 2nd week of October I have another long drive ahead of me. 2,221 miles in fact.

"Why would you drive across the country? Are you insane?!" you may ask.

Well first off, yeah a little bit apparently lol. But the reason I would take such an insane journey is because I am moving in with my sister. The added bonus of this move is I will be in a state that will, hopefully, provide me with healthcare that does more than just pay for birth control and aids tests.

The bad news as you can already imagine is I won't be able to get a lot of work done the first couple of weeks so I'll be pausing billing for the month of October at least while I make this move.
