Yeah having better, wittier lyrics would've absolutely helped add to some of those songs that were lacking. And omg "Been Like This" would have been GOLD with Weeknd on it, definitely a missed opportunity

honestly I really love this album, I agree and think a lot of the songs will grow on you heavy. and same with payday I was so annoyed going into the album since it followed woman which was so strong and then that came and I was like......oh no no this. but the rest of the album saved it seriously. I think what gets me for this album is that all of the songs work together without being too similar. I think it will set her on a good path for the rest of her career tbh

I definitely feel the "annoying voice" thing, turns me off just about entirely. I feel like it definitely offsets in the chorus on "Get Into It," when she finally wants to register her voice (because I was about to skip), but the second verse is really what carries that song! Overall, I definitely feel this album was more composed. Definitely appreciate Doja Cat's artistry because it seems genuine and she's not trying to please anyone.

I helt very similarly to you about most of the songs! I think what was missing for me on a couple of songs that were a bit of a vibe but overall just not enough were more interesting lyrics. She’s such a funny personality, I like when she’s funny in her lyrics as well. It’s funny also, I felt similarly about ”you right” I wanted more from it after it was done, and then right after was ”been like this” which is one of the best off the album and I feel like The Weeknd would’ve fit better on that song. I’d also say that as an album as a whole, there was somewhat of a ”vibe” and a sense of it being an era for her, but I still don’t feel like there was enough to make it a cohesive album for me. It feels like she made a bunch of songs and put them out there, and people will just take with them what songs they actually enjoyed. That being said, I feel like that might work in its favor in the long run because we’ll probably end up focusing on and remembering the good much more than the bad in hindsight and view it more positively overall, you know what I mean? Also, I’m also fkn with H.E.R’s new album h e a v y rn.
