PHOENIXES v0.1 new peeks and Q&A

The development of PHOENIXES v0.1 is going well. We will end the debugging process in three days and then begin the UI optimizing process. After that, we will spend another few days on the finishing touches and then the game will be good to release.

The game will be released within this month if nothing unexpected happens.

I was planning to bring you some screenshots of gameplay, but since we haven’t optimized UI yet, the screenshots may look quite rough, so in the end I decided not to do that. I’ll come back with the screenshots of gameplay after we finish the UI optimizing process.

This post will be a Q&A. I collected a few questions about PHOENIXES from the comments and messages that I think are worth sharing:

- What will the MC be like in PHOENIXES? Will he have a similar personality to the MC of VIRTUES?

The answer is no, but I think you will still find some similarities between the two MCs since I didn’t change my writing style. Sometimes you may feel that “he has a similar tone as the MC of VIRTUES”.

In my personal opinion, the MC in a harem game should be an outstanding man who ‘deserves’ to be loved by many, he can’t be just a normal dude, otherwise it will be hard to explain why so many girls would fall in love with him. In VIRTUES, I tried to make MC a perfect man. He is handsome, gentle, strong, caring, smart, rich, etc. He is like the backbone of his girls and he can solve any problem by himself.

Did I make a good job in crafting him? Well, I won’t say that. It is never a wise choice to create a ‘perfect’ character. Sometimes it would just make the story boring when you realize MC can easily handle anything.

So, I’m not doing it again in PHOENIXES. I still believe the MC should be much more outstanding than normal people, but he just doesn’t have to be perfection.

In PHOENIXES, MC will start as a wanderer in the shadow of the city, a lone wolf, a complicated man who doesn’t hesitate to work with the evil but has a heart of justice deep down. He is a strong fighter, but he will be dealing with many girls who are much stronger than him. He can be a protector of his girls, but sometimes he will be the one that needs to be protected. You will experience his redemption, his struggle, his weakness, and his life principle throughout the story.

- You said there will be at least 15 main girls, do you really think you can handle 15 storylines? / If you want to tell a good story, maybe you should focus on main characters no more than five.

I believe many people have the same doubt about that. Well, all I can say is please have some faith in me. I have learned a lot of things during the development of VIRTUES, arrogancy is not one of them. I know what I am capable of and I promise I won’t let you down.

- I love the relaxing story style that VIRTUES has, will PHOENIXES be relaxing too or will it be much more serious?

It will be relaxing and comedic too, don’t worry about it.

- Will there be NSFW content in the first version?

Well, as a common fact, it is unlikely for dating sims to have much NSFW content in the first few versions. The MC needs to develop relationships with girls first. There will be NSFW content in the first version of PHOENIXES, including sex between MC and a main girl, but there won’t be much of them. Thanks for understanding.

- Since it is a game about superhero society, will there be monsters, and sex scenes between heroines and monsters?

Eh… … there will be monsters, but no, no sex, sorry about that.
