And I'm sure there will be more, though I am at a loss as to what other animals would qualify for extreme conditions, particularly mountain, jungle or rainforest environments. Do you have any ideas or suggestions on that?

Now, I know that question isn't as easy to answer as it used to be, what with 9 generations of Pokemon and 1025 different species (and counting!) That's not even bringing up things like Mega Evolutions or regional variants. So what I suggest is that each month, you pick out 6 Pokemon from a generation, starting with Kanto, then Johto, etc. That ought to give you something to work on for the rest of the year. Sam, feel free to chip in on this one.
