Somber

My hand is broken.

Okay, not broken, but they're not working well at all. Since working at Amazon I've been noticing an increasing stiffness in the fingers of the right hand. It's gotten so bad that I've been waking up with several fingers virtually paralyzed until I take ibuprofen, soak them in hot water, and carefully stretch each finger. And when I do move them they pop painfully. This has made work, typing and gaming rather difficult as I do all three with my hands. My doctor (whom I have never actually met) says I have trigger finger, and that I need to not use my hand for a couple weeks. Needless to say, this doesn't jive with long term employment at amazon nor life as a writer.

So I'm trying two things. First I've entered Amazon's robotics track which will hopefully put less strain on my hand and let it recover. I started training last week and this week I'm actually on the AR floor mostly fixing things that go wrong like product on the floor or robots losing their position. Second I've been trying talk to text software. I haven't found one I like, so suggestions are welcome.

I have made some creeping progress on Homelands. Just a few pages. Here's hoping that having work brain again will free up creative writing brain again. Thanks so much for sticking with me. I hope things recover enough that I can start doing normal life again.
