I actually sympathize with Marcus a lot. I don’t think he was ever really shown to be acting in pure self-interest after the time skip. He just tried to take on the same role that Grayson did by working with the underground in order to keep the peace. But he’s out of his depth. The problem is, he isn’t Grayson and Silco isn’t Vander. Silco is not the kind of man to treat him as an equal. I love that it’s the consequences of his own past actions that set things on this path. He made one bad deal and got the two people able to prevent a war killed. Even when he tried the whole rest of his life to make up for it, the effects his mistakes had still end up threatening his daughter, and getting him killed trying to protect her. That’s why I love this show. Everyone’s actions matter and there are real, realistic consequences regardless of how a person tries to change.

2024-10-18 00:01:16 +0000 UTCA couple of fun things in this episode (probably my 2nd favorite after ep 3 though all are fantastic): When Jinx is walking across the bridge after blowing up the enforcers and shoots one in the head like she doesn't care she is humming the same song she was singing in episode one "Dear friend across the river, my hands are cold and bare, dear friend across the river, I'll take what you can spare, I ask of you a penny, my fortune it will be, so come across the river and find..." which was likely a song she learned to beg for money from Piltover citizens. If you go back through the season you'll see that Jinx has been working on these specific firelight drone bombs right in front of us since episode 4.
