I agree about the convenience of them being at the police station at the same time but everything afterwards works for me. I mean from her perspective what are the odds that of all the millions of people in the region the one person she comes across randomly is Kira. On top of that he has connections to the very people she is trying to connect with. She is telling him all this info because she wants to contact the task force and light is her best chance to do so. she just heard he often helps solve crimes so why wouldn't she try to show someone connected to the task force what she knows. she has no reason to suspect light specifically and the odds that she randomly comes in contact with kira by sheer luck are super low to the point of basically being zero. I mean I occasionally buy lottery tickets but I don't make financial decisions based on the chance I might win, (again the main contrivance here that i agree is a bit too much is the sheer luck of them being at the same place at the same time). obviously with the knowledge we have we know she is making a mistake but taking an outside perspective given the knowledge she has (which is even less than the kira investigation team) I think her actions here make sense.

2024-09-01 05:08:10 +0000 UTCOne of the early major contrivances of the story, and it's always bothered me as well, but most of it stems from the initial bit of "luck": his dad is leading the Kira investigation. Most of the "lucky breaks" he has stem from that relationship. He had a reason to come to the Headquarters, and so does she, so it's not totally forced, but I agree the timing feels lazy. However, I will grant that his dad leading the investigation isn't exactly "luck", it just reads that way because of when we learn of the relationship. Light likely knew when he started all of this that his dad would be involved in investigating him, and either didn't care or already considered it an advantage
