2024-06-12 10:57:54 +0000 UTCThere's an interview from Yukimura where he said something interesting about Thorkell. I'll just post it here. "There are two things I had in mind when I wrote Thorkell. The main one is that I hate violence. So in order to write a character that is violent I have a tendency to write them off as a villain. I dont think that's fair. So I tried to create a lovable violent character. That's number one. The other is that Thorkell has the heart of a child. I feel that a violent person is deep down a child. Whether they're a powerful ruler or tactical genius, they're still a child. A big, violent child." If you want to know how successful he was in this endeavor, Yukimura has made Thorkell his profile pic on twitter lol, even despite his violence. Also love how Askeladd/Thorfinn really got portrayed as a father/son in this episode. Really does a lot to build on their dynamic.
