Attack on Titan 4x26

RIP Daz and Samuel, I guess. :(

Attack on Titan 4x26

I think Samuel would be able to find another pistol if Conny didn’t kill him. Very sad situation to be honest

Regarding Sam and Daz’s confrontation and death, respectfully I’m not really sure what you were expecting there. Our group tried to take a route without violence and Floch sabotaged it. Sam shot Armin in the mouth from the off-set, both symbolically and literally denying any sort of discussion between them. Yeah, our characters from different sides had a conversation with each other in the forest last episode, but that’s because both sides agreed not to fight, albeit begrudgingly. But it takes both groups to want to talk. And in this episode, the middle of an active battlefield is not a good time to talk to someone who’s made it clear (with violence) that they don’t want to hear your side of things. And to me that take seems weird as earlier in the episode you were agreeing with Pieck that the yeagerists needed to be killed. Also, I don’t see how pushing Sam in the water would have done anything, what’s stopping him from pulling himself right back up and continuing fighting? Like, okay he’s wet then, but the situation remains the same? They’re now in the middle of a battle where a stray bullet or thunder spear could destroy their chances of getting to the mainland to stop Eren. And in the middle of that Connie’s struggling with this guy who views him how he viewed Reiner and Bertholdt. I don’t see how Connie dunking Sam in the water would have done anything at all. I hope you don’t think I’m being rude, and I apologize if I am coming across as heated, it’s not my intention. Sometimes tone is lost when it’s just written text. I’m just coming from a place of not understanding the thought process behind your critique of this episode.

Maybe a bit late and im not sure if this is something you knew, but Samuel was the guy who Sasha saved from falling off the wall in S1

Actually Samuel and Daz's death were necessary. It's like the train that comes onto you or another person or yet another person what lever do you pull to safe everyone? Theres no time anymore to decide. They need the solidified strategic plan executed to safe azumabito and get into the small plane while the rumbling walks towards them killing each and everyone anyway. While the scene happens where he killed samuel, the fight is already in progress and seconds count over lives. You wouldn't have tried to talk them out of saving paradis(their ideology) and suddenly talk them into killing all of their friends and leaders(or watch away whilst dling that) if your under that much of pressure to safe billions of people @sws.

tris273

not sure throwing them in the water would ahve done much with their gear they're basically impossible to disarm, they'd either end up drowning or come back up and shoot you in the back

HAL

its also just a huge techniological leap comapred to anythign else they have to throw away without a good reason keeping it rigged to blow in an emergency and hoping you can keep it to reverse engineer/reuse later makes a lot more sense and if things do jsut shrink down and you get another war on the island you mgiht wanna be the only ones with an airplane and advanced weapons so you can actually stay in power

HAL

the calmer/weirder soundtracks go ahrd this season

HAL

If it was me, I’d much prefer flying a plane around the wasteland to check for survivors rather than taking a boat and walking across the world to look for people

You agreed with Pieck’s thoughts on how the only realistic plan is to wipe them all out so I was surprised to hear you think killing Daz and Samuel was unnecessary. With the world at stake, they can’t afford to make any assumptions or take any chances. It would be quite foolish if after all the bloodshed, letting those two live causes their plan to fail and all the deaths were in vain. It’s similar to how you said in an earlier episode that if you were forced to be in Floch’s position, you’d shoot all outsiders as well. A “necessary” evil toward ensuring an end. It logistically makes sense and it also is brilliant from a writing perspective as one can only achieve a deep understanding of another through empathy, and now Conny, who was fed up with getting betrayed all the time, can understand how Reiner felt as he made the same choice of killing friends for an ideal.

I like the fact that Armin and Connie get a dose of irony this episode. Connie the guy who said he hates being betrayed, finally understands what it’s like to betray someone like the warriors. Armin the guy who always tries to solve things through talking, gets his mouth shot. Sometimes you can’t change a person’s mind, and “someone has to stain their hands with blood” instead of

skitalks

I feel like the moment Armin got shot in the mouth and Floch yelling that they are traitors, talking their way out of this would not only be unrealistic but impossible.

skitalks

Wow, never thought about this way, thank you!

puremetalcore

kinda like how eren hurt mikasa emotionally and then beat up armin in the restaurant if he tried that the other way round he would have lost

HAL

Armin is an actor without an Oscar 🤣

puremetalcore

I really liked the decision to shoot armin in his mouth, thereby taking away his ability to talk. You can hear him attempt to say something multiple times in the scene, but it just won't come out. Conny has never been the type to find peaceful solutions, so he was forced into a predicament with really only one outcome I think. Tbh, even if Samuel survived that, he would just get killed by one of the titans next episode. There's no chance he just would've done nothing after one his comrade was killed by one of his former comrades, and as soon as he'd mingle in the fight he'd just get offed like that.
