Attack on Titan 4x19

Comments

Dude Two Brothers was such a masterpiece EP recontextualizing Eren & Zeke; Grice & Falco and Marcel & Galliard. Laughed my ass off xD bc ur literally the ''wokest'' aot viewer i know making perfect conclusions on the writer's intentions on aot being more a show about humans than about titans; BUT STILL cheer on main characters with hard backstorys dying bc they evil now :'D

Also, when Zeke says he is here (the coordinate) without being tainted by the first king’s ideals, it’s because he did not ingest the founding Titan. Previous royal Founders were bound by the vow upon consuming the Founding Titan’s spinal fluid; unlike them, Zeke arrived at the coordinate by merely making physical contact with Eren.

Russell Gambardella

Reiner was only able to share Marcel’s memories with Porco because he was in contact with Eren, who has the coordinate. Just wanted to point out that cool detail that really shows how well the world building is, Reiner could not have done that if he wasn’t in contact with Eren most likely

Russell Gambardella

hey at least they didn't decide to make the behaeding a cliff hanger jsut think about it with a tiny bit of schedulign shifting that headshot could have been the brake between s4p1 and s4p2 we could have theoretically seen gabi shooting of fhis head and then wait a year to watch zeke catch it and instead they put it in the middle of an episode iwth this glorious slowmo shot

HAL

she literally geos through a redemption arc despite still shooting people

HAL

So glad to see Gabi got some cheering for the shot when she’s doing the same thing as Reiner there

Naej

Ymir ist the first ever Titan, and also the Eve of all eldians, as u said, she has the power to control every Eldian by will

Fucsiada

29:40 like golems

HAL

24:20 now imagine the evolution from the season 1 dreamstate moment where he burns down the dream saying "I was born in htis world" to his moms quote to here except with a translation where that first line is randomly altered so it doesn't work yeah this show was insanely difficult to translate especially for trnaslators starting with season 1 without knowing anything beyond it

HAL

zekes baseball practice paid off

HAL

17:00 ah, yes, perfect cruelty, everybody dies except the guy who literally wants to die, he gets plot armor

HAL

16:30 and he's eating her cousin

HAL

8:00 kinda comes down to philosophy/metaphysics how similar dying is to not being born in the first place

HAL

3:35 its not really like trenches cause their opponents are basically low altitude flying constantly if they get down between the houses they only get like half a second to see and try to shoot at their opponents but the scouts could still fire thunder spears between the houses and be almost certain to hit someone

HAL

2:40 killing zeke should really be their priority erens titan is special inherently to the titan he holds zekes titan is only special because he has it and he also has royal blood if both of them get passed to/awaken in someone else then erens titan is by far hte more important one but killing either will stop them from making contact

HAL

Zeke doesn't have the Founding Titan, therefore he's never been bound by the Vow Renouncing War, since the Vow is passed down through the King's Ideals in the Founding Titan. The fact that he even mentioned he was bound by it in the first place was a huge red flag that it was all for show. Zeke started doubting Eren after he saw Eren literally drop the ball in Liberio. He put on the act just to confirm ERen's intentions. The revelation that Ymir still just obeys those with Royal Blood is completely new, because the Founder had always been passed down through the Royal Bloodline and therefore bound by the Vow. Because he doesn't have teh Founder, Zeke is the first royal to ever reach the coordinate without ever being "tainted" by the king's ideals, as he himself said.

Polygon

******SPOILERS****** This doesn't make sense really. The founding titan does have a very unique form. As we see with Eren and Ymir in episode 21. It is much bigger than any other Titan and almost resembles a tree. The reason Frieda looked so normal was because she didn't have the founding titans full power as with all the others affected by the vow. The true founding titan is what we see in 21+ and it very much does exist. It also has a scream to erase memories as you probably know. The paths to me is the tree of life where all Eldians are connected through the founding titan. However its shown that the founding titan can be in the paths and in the physical world simultaneously. Their presence in the real world is more true, their being in the paths is more like the collective unconscious where time itself is not connected to the real world.

daragh faro

Yeah, it's just that the powers work in the opposite way of what Ksaver thought. Where the power of the founding titan are inherent to the royal bloodline following from Ymir's backstory rather than the FT itself.

Phthalo

So, the founding titan. Seeing as you've finished s4e21 already, I can talk a lot more freely about this. If you haven't yet or don't want me to explain some mechanics of the show, just don't read the body of this comment. The "founding titan" itself as a thing in the real world doesn't really exist, at least not like the others. For example, the armored titan exists as a real thing, it is a titan with armored plates. The jaw titan exists as a titan with sharp fangs, et cetera. The founding titan doesn't express in that way. To have the founding titan is to be able to enter the coordinate. That's basically it. It doesn't have fancy phenotypic expressions, it more or less looks like any other titan, as you saw in the short battle between Grisha and the Reiss'. The coordinate is a place - whether you want to call it a dimension is up to you, personally I always refer to it as a plane of existence - where the paths meet, where all Eldians are connected. In that place, the founder Ymir resides. She sees herself as a slave to those with royal blood due to her circumstances and will follow their commands. And because she is a slave to royalty, she will follow any command given to those with royal blood. That is the power of the founding titan - the ability to give commands to Ymir. Where it gets interesting is the limitations of this power. The founding titan has limits just like every other titan. In this case, that is the fact that you can only enter the coordinate with royal blood. Eren has the founding titan, but does not have royal blood. Thereby he can't enter it and is powerless to its power. Zeke has royal blood being the son of Dina, but doesn't have the founding titan, so he can't enter the coordinate. This basically makes them two halves of the same key. Use one to enter the coordinate, and the other to exert its power. The moment they touched (or rather, Zeke caught his head), their paths crossed and both, for all intents and purposes, became one being possessing both powers. That's why everything played out the way it did. Zeke got control of the power because he has royal blood, so the founder listens to him. Actually "having" the power doesn't mean squat. It just brings you to the coordinate.

Erjon Sejdijaj

Referring to Ymir as “Gaia” makes sense. Ymir in Norse mythology shares many similarities with Gaia in Greek mythology. After episode 21 you can research Ymir from Norse Mythology to understand the inspiration for the name.

Jordan Cobb

Even though you saw events coming like Sasha's death(for Gabi's development) or Zeke was going to scream (once you saw the military come back), like you said it's still great writing because the setup was done properly. Your ability to connect parallel themes and characters and even include science mixed in with personal/known stories of painter times is highly intriguing! I greatly appreciate your rambling and thought processes.

FaZe Gabi strikes again

Charlie Watson

Faze Gabi does it again.

You should not forget that Zeke kinda already can use coordinate - he can control titans if those titans has his spinal fluid, let's say his range of power was limited only by his spinal fluid ( 😆 crack theories) and what action he can apply on those titans (he was able only control their movements. Uri with royal blood and the founding titan was able to access to all eldians via paths and do whatever he wants (of cause he had his vow, he had some limits, but still he could alter memories, cure illness etc.) Now Eren has founding and Zeke royal blood separately and they got access to paths together, now they need to figure it out what to do next and how

puremetalcore

If Zeke had eaten Eren, then he would've entered the paths under the control of the Vow Renouncing War, like all royals. You figured it out at the end, so all good.

Hippopi

Yeap, Eren literally "dropped the ball" there, which told Zeke that he was planning to also "drop the ball" regarding the Euthanisia plan

Krul

They need the Founding Titan to get to the "coordinate realm", but once there Ymir listens only to Royal blood. So, in this case, Eren brought them there, but Zeke is the one holding power over Ymir. Since the Founding Titan had always been with someone with Royal blood, the exact details of how this worked were not clear, but now we know.

Krul

I would argue that the best bet at that point in time were Pieck and Margath. They both were willing to step beyond the cycle of hate and they were the leaders of the Allicance. I am aware that the "Eren" people did not know that, but from a viewer point, I still think that was the best bet (just a bet, but still). It is confirmed later as well with Eren in 4x21 that they were wrong to trust him. Though all of these thoughts of mine are still "in the heat of the moment" and we should discuss these things more indepth after I am done with AoT. =)

M U

The thing is that if they lose Eren, literally everyone on Paradis island will be murdered by the world. If Eren hadn't fought, then they would have all been massacred anyway.

Hippopi

When Eren told Zeke that he is agree with his plan, Zeke believed him, after Eren didn't catch the ball Zeke assumed that Eren is lying.

puremetalcore

might be, I have to look at it again :D perhaps I forgot to copy the new batch

Did you miss a page of Patreon members on 01:33 it was blank for a bit
