Attack on Titan 4x12

Sigh...

Attack on Titan 4x12

18:00 Technically, Willy Tybur declared war on Paradis in his speech, and by applauding his speech, Marley approved the declaration of war. Eren just reacted and started the battle.

This is explained almost verbatim in an upcoming episode. You should have just waited for the show to reveal that.

Corey Hughes

35:10 JÄGERMEISTER

I mean in their situation wanting to replace eren is absolutely understandable like imagine its wwi and a random nation gets ahnded a modern nuclear arsenal but under the condition that its controlled by a random edgy teenager and his estranged half brother BUT you can replace them with any trusted or elected official you like BUT you need to kill them in order to do so yeah, seems like a reasonable move, sucks for them though

Shinzou Wo Sasageyo! (Give your heart!) Since the beginning of the show this has been the catchphrase of the Survey Corps and we have learnt to associate it with moments of the utmost heroism and self-sacrifice. Watching it being used as a fascist chant to celebrate Premier Zachary's death is one of the most chilling moments of the show. It just gets to show how easy it is to pervert the meaning of our symbols, specially once the ghost of ultranationalism has started to make an appearance.

One small thing I finally noticed in this episode: It seems they made an attempt at a separation of powers in the government regarding the 3 nodes of power in play (Eren, Zeke, Historia). We know it’s exclusively Scouts in the forest guarding Zeke and knowing his location. I believe we only see Garrison troops guarding Eren. And when Hange asks about Historia’s location, it seems only Nile and some of the military police know. Just a cool detail I’d never noticed, assuming I’m correct in noticing this!

I'd say it's only natural for Zachary and the military to want to replace Eren, as he's only ever been a tool to them. I mean, Zachary was the one who originaly let Eren live as long as he proved useful to the scouts. Now that he's acting on his own and being directly antagonistic they're pressed to do something quickly. It's a precarious situation for sure. Stuck between the lock and key to your continued survival not knowing eithers intentions, nor how the founding titans powers work in the first place. Hence why they're so suspicious of Zeke, Eren, the volunteers and now the scouts. On the Hange thing, I'd say it was more than justified to be cautious when his "leader" had just admitted to working behind their backs and is potentially conspiring against them. She was just clearing him of any suspicion, and as such defended him later. They didn't really look for reasons to justify their detainment either, they've been worried about Zeke since the beginning and are now investigating their actions leading up to Erens parting.

I dont think Floch thinks Eren is his god. I think he's so broken that he thinks this world is a literal living hell and that if it is a hell the only person who can actually do anything meaningful is a devil, and he thinks Eren is that devil. Eren to him is a living representation of all the deaths he's seen and he HAS TO believe in Eren, otherwise what did everyone die for?

Loved the long reaction! These episodes definitely call for them with how complex the topics in them are.
