2024-04-02 14:57:07 +0000 UTC15:20 if someone analyses all our transmissions on earth, with a lot of data and a lto of analysis you could slwoly puzzle together first how our tv and radio sginals are meant to wrok to begin with and then our languages with a bunch of clver tricks, a lot of neiche knowledge and a LOT of work like using word frequencies to figure out what kind of number system we use and what words we use for numbers, then listening for numbers with a special meaning in mathematics or physics, then listen for words used around those numbers and so on piece together the frames/linescansd of analog television and you potentailyl get access to decades worth of several childrens tv channels bradcasting almsot 24/7 around the world teaching the very basics of language and life on earth but if you send a single message like this and it can only be understood by people who have already overheard all your transmissions on earth then why send that message?

2024-04-02 14:44:23 +0000 UTCI would guess yo ucould cut a diamond as such if you ahve a hard enough material, after all you can'T jsut stick diamonds together and have them snap together either, if theres the tiniest misalignment between the two sides its not gonna snap together again however, whats more weird is that you would need an insanely strong string to do so I mean on the sidewards area where the string hits the diamond you get a load on the string htats basically equivalent to the hardness of diamond so if the string is stronger thats doable, there are some materials slgihtly stronger than diamond, some even quite a bit but the problem is you get that pressure over an area of thickness of string times length of diamond and you take that load over an area of thickness of string times thickenss of string so it would rip at the edges of the diamond if the diameter of the string is in the nanometers that string has to either be a few million times stronger than diamond or it needs to interact with the diamond on a microscopic level in some way that makes it much much easier to cut

2024-04-02 02:31:07 +0000 UTC14:40 theres some pretty clever concepts at how to encode messages but there is celar hypocracy to their attempt like come on, they're broadcasting about contact and cooperation while shutting themselves off from other people on their own planet and declaring every text from outside evil propaganda, makes it seem a lot more like a propagandistic shot at seeming advanced than an actual attempt at contacting aliens

2024-04-02 01:28:07 +0000 UTC4:30 either that or its some kind of light swallowing thign around earth OOOOORRR don't space telescopes usually take like really long exposure shots? so the stars went brighter first and the nflickered on and off for a bit if you took like a 5 minute exposure shot over that it might just look perfectly normal assuming the averaged brightness over that time is normal
