Halloween 1997

Ohh, what does that mean? It's so Scary!!! BOO!! HAHAHA!!!

Anyway, finally here it is! And just in time but barely. 

As I've mentioned before October caught me off guard this year, and between that work, and my sudden impulse to slightly expand my 5 illustrations vampire project I hadn't really had the time to work on this besides some sketching until now. 

Also, I wasn't sure what I wanted the picture to be, I just knew I didn't want to do a repeat of last year’s with the characters posing for the camera. You know, to keep it fresh.

And that's when I found myself walking on the street alone at night and I passed by a 4 meter tall mechanized skeleton waving sinisterly at me and I knew I needed to have that in the picture.

So what I think it's happening is that the band and company were at the park square for the Halloween parade and at some point they decided to split up to do different activities and decided the giant skeleton would be the meeting point later, and that's what we're seeing. 

Tak, Tony and Diana are arriving from the food stands and I think Tony is telling Zara that they're selling fruit punch. And Davo and Tina coming back from taking a walk together.

I decided to go with Diana as a devil but not any devil as, as you may notice, she doesn't have her guitar with her so that makes “El diablito loco”. Tony as Shaun from Shaun of the death just works for me. Tak as Hornet as well, I like to imagine that she needs help to take the mask out so she hasn't been able to eat anything so she's in a hurry.

I went with Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love for Davo and Tina because I felt that was the visually strongest of the sketches I made.

RJ as Jason was a lock in from the start for me. 

As for Zara as Carrie, what truly convinced me was the idea of this being during the time those two were keeping their thing a secret but not being able to resist the impulse of making out under the giant skeleton ending up in Zara rubbing some red make up on RJ’s face and him having to keep the mask on the rest of the night.

And now the two bears of the group end up with the same predicament.

Lil was really close to being girl Ranma because I really liked how she looked, but at the last minute realized that I kind of like that one better for Diana, so I'm keeping that one for hopefully next year when maybe someone can be there as her Akane. 

There's also a good chance I forget about it though. 

As for Lil this year I realized I had my “character costume quota” pretty much covered so it would be better for her to go as a more generic concept so she's going as an evil nurse. 

Which makes it possible for Diego to be somewhere, possibly out of frame, going as an evil doctor, or maybe an evil patient, or even as an evil Animaniac. Who knows, maybe there was a miscommunication and he is boy Ranma.

With the picture coming so late this year I kinda wanted to compensate by adding some extra pictures. And there's some others I'm working on that'll come on another post soon I hope.

One I sort of already talked about. RJ and Zara make out and stop to look around to confirm they're still alone with all the evidence in their faces. I really wanted to draw that.

At the last minute I also came up with another couple costume for Davo but this one is for the Davo/Tony enjoyers. The confirmed three of you. Which is actually more than I expected (and with this I mean the enjoyers of their friendship of course).

I had considered them going as Wayne and Garth from Wayne's world one or two years ago but I didn't do it in the end, and I recently remembered it. 

To be honest, while I like it, Tony doesn't 100% convince me as Wayne yet. I think it's one of those things where the costume doesn't work without the wig. On the other hand, with Davo. Damn, that's pretty much Garth. Lol

Maybe next year Tina can be Garth's girlfriend from the second movie and who knows, maybe Tak can be Cassandra. It would be weird having Garth's girlfriend and not Cassandra.

And lastly I expand on some extra characters in the background that make a cameo. And there's two that I think I need to introduce to some of you and that'd be The Intern and her boyfriend!!!!

You know, the intern from some old pictures I made for Inktober some years ago. The creepy internship.

A college student needs to do some social work to get her title so she does an internship for an evil scientist. I've been wanting to do something with these characters for a while.

I guess what's happening is that this is years after that and she hasn't figured it out yet but she's a bit traumatized by her internship. Unfortunately her date is going as an evil scientist for Halloween accidentally provoking her to have Vietnam flashbacks but she's pretending to be ok. 

It is not his fault, they haven’t been dating for too long so she hasn't told him…

Or maybe, his costume is actually unlocking the deleted memories she asked the scientist to erase after she finished her internship and that he agreed to because he wouldn't want her to tell his secrets anyway.

Or maybe he deleted the memories of the clone he made of her so the clone can live a happy life while he can keep an who later he actually promoted.

But wouldn't it make more sense then to keep the clone so that the intern can live happily ever after?

Maybe that's what he did, he's not even sure, he’s too busy with his science to distract himself with trivial issues like that.

Also, I just remembered that they already did that plot on Rick and Morty so maybe the intern is still working with the scientist and was just freaked out by how good of an impression her boyfriend made of her boss without even knowing him.

I'm still not sure which one of these is canon. 

It's a mystery and masteries are scary!!!! BOO!!! HAHAHA!!!

Also it would be a shame she stopped working with the evil scientist before they can do a crossover with the Whisperers.
