Play the game.
Or.
A new adventure begins... and then it ends.
It also comes with a cool 10 Inches vinyl statue.
Well that turned out well.
Long story short, I think this is actually like the second or third time Tina hangs out with the WornDown Children and she's still trying to give a good impression and look cool and not so much like a nerd.
Well, the concert plan failed and she may have left a bit too much of the nerd show, and I mean, yeah, she maybe should have started with something less advanced like an uno, this one is actually a little bit too complicated, but the night was still a success in the end. So what else can one ask for?
In the end they all had a good time, and who knows? Maybe acquired a new hobby? Maybe…
This is a short comic that has been in my head for months. Literally since last year.
In fact, I can prove it! The game appears in a summer drawing from some months ago that I guess happens after this comic.
As I mentioned on said post, the game is based on the universe of some other characters of mine, Khun, Aki, etc. And I've been thinking a lot about how the game works.
So there's a map and the players can play as one of several factions, colonizer soldiers, insurgents, pirates, conmen, explorers, assassins and such, and there's many ways to win the game for each one. From conquering a certain amount of land or a specific one, to getting a certain amount of money (The way Lil won), to having certain cards in your power.
None of this is original, it is just a bunch of stuff I've taken from other games of course. Including the ending.
This is actually based on a real story. That time me and my friends were struggling to play Disney Villainous, trying to figure out the rules and then after an hour we finally discovered one of us had already won like 30s before somehow.
But it was fun.
The concert got cancelled as well that time.
Changing the topic a bit, Tony absolutely knew he was playing the soldiers. While he might have not known when picking his deck based only on it being green (habit he totally got from me, always picks the greens) it says so in every card of his deck. That was just one of his classic attempts at funny.
As for Diana, I think she is one of those people who take games maybe a bit too seriously and then cringe about it after the game.
She has gotten better at it though, she used to be sorer loser.
Lil is still a bit confused about the rules but she got to win so she really liked the game and Zara got a dopamine boost from her eureka moment when she finally got it after seeing how Lil won so she's getting into it.
I think Davo is the one who cared least about the game. He didn't quite dislike it but he wasn't crazy about the whole thing. But hey!His girl likes these games so he’ll of course give it another shot, and who knows, maybe they’ll grow on him. Maybe…
And RJ is possibly who liked it the most out of the band. I don't think he's conscious of how much he likes structured fun.
I like that he and Tina are getting along so far because she doesn’t know it at this point but they both form part of a subgroup adjacent to the band that could be called “The boyfriends” Or partners or whatever
What you read was a translated version. This is actually the first comic I've originally written in Spanish. I've had this idea lately that I should further Mexicanize my art a bit more and that's a good start.
This also comes from the fact that I've been working on a Spanish version of Closing Time and I’ve actually struggled a bit. How do these characters say these lines? Do they talk in slang? Which slang? Do they talk like characters in dubbed movies? It would make sense because it is a translation but why would I do that? Spanish is a more intimidating language to write in. Especially because I can't play the “It's my second language” card.
So I could use the practice lmao.
Ironically this whole dissertation was written in English first out of pure force of habit and when I realized I was more than halfway done so… whatever lmao.
I don't know if this will be the final version of this comic, I feel like I could add something to make Tina's intentions more explicit but for now I think it's fine.
