Closing Time [37 - 44]
Or.
She fought the law and… it was kind of a tie.
See, starting now everytime I introduce a cop or guard in a comic, you have to assume my characters will end up running from them.
Anyway it is back! I really wanted to finish this batch before February but as you can see, I failed.
Mainly because while doing the layout I realized that two pages had to become 4 which, unless I end up deleting a page in the next one, will bring this comic to a total of at least 50 pages.
And it's at least 50 pages because after I'm done with it I'll start working on the director's cut. And with this I mean that I'll repost it in one single post here for easy readability and I'll take the opportunity to make some edits like adding Tony's blood stains in every panel of the car or editing the mechanic games in the first pages so it's clearer what they are, and there's at least one page that I want to retroactively add.
Which reminds me Diana's drug infused paranoia is inspired in one of the funniest stoner stories I've heard in person and that honor goes to one of my college friends.
He tells it way better and it's hard to make it justice in another language and written but long story short he once got so high that he stayed in his bedroom for 5 hours because he was terrified of being so high that if he came out of his room his dog would talk to him.
He didn't even imagine his dog talking, I love the idea that he probably wasn't high enough for that. But he feared that he might be. Tho the dog story wouldn't make sense in this world so I had to come up with something new, Tho not as good.
I have a similar story from years later. Tho not as funny.
My friends and I were at a restaurant once and there was a waiter there who was right out from central casting. He looked like a Mexican Johnny Bravo and had the deepest voice I’ve ever heard in person. His voice resounded through the echo and murmur of the crowd and for a moment I was sure he was the devil.
I realized he wasn't the devil quickly but then an even scarier thought crossed my mind. “Is he real?” Am I imagining him? Or maybe he's real but my brain is making his voice sound deeper than it is, and why would my brain do that?
Luckily for me my friends were probably having the same worry because when I commented my worry we all sighed with relief. He’s real, It wasn't just me. And also luckily for me that has been the worst bad trip type experience I've had.
Now, please forget that story in the case I end up using it for a comic in the future.
Sadly for Diana she can't say the same. She's not having a good time right now guys. The good thing for her is that her adventure is almost over. The next batch will most surely be the last one of this specific comic. But rest assured, there will be more adventures.
Not completely sure when that batch will come. I hope soon but I do have some commission work to do, besides my actual job and all that. But who knows. I've been having a couple of very productive weeks. It's almost like I'm focusing hard mode on drawing to distract myself from world events or something. Wonder what that's about… anyway.
Looking forward to finishing this comic so I can start with other projects for this Patreon and it just make sense as with all the drug themes many would consider this comic 18+ anyway.
Will the band be able to catch Diana? Will the security guard be payed extra time? What will she give Davo for his birthday to compensate for the boots he had to buy her? Discover the answer to some of these questions in the next batch of “The WornDown Children: Closing Time”
