Is your home really yours?

Saturday October 26 [Redacted] 11:07 Matter began recomposing a body out of thin air and stopped midway. It went unnoticed at the moment and discovered only after the fact through residuals.

Basically Donnie was showing Ignacio the view from his new department, it's a one room department, nothing fancy really, when something spooky was happening behind them, but they didn't notice.

Hey would you look at that, It's Donnie!! Long time no see. Yeah my fault, I haven't drawn him in a while. I didn't forget about him or anything of course, I actually have an interesting and very important reason for that.

But before that, I thought I could take some time to write a little about Donnie, him and Ignacio and stuff. So if you're interested, buckle up my fellow Donnie-heads.

Donnie and Ignacio technically first met during highschool but they may have talked to each other just a couple of times. They Had different classes and moved in different circles. Donnie was more of a sports guy and hung out a lot with the team while Ignacio didn't really have friends back then. He was going through something, after all, suddenly being able to see dead people messes you up a bit.

Years later Ignacio was now out of college and working as a photographer though he can't really reveal too much of his job, and one day at a bar he bumps into Donnie.

He has had a rough time since highschool. His dad kicked him out after coming out of the closet right after graduation and that cost him going to college. He currently works guarding a warehouse and that's a thing they have in common right? Working at night. And until recently was living with two roommates that happen to be huge pricks. They hit it off and started hanging out and recently dating.

The thing is that Ignacio hasn't told Donnie about his job.

See at the moment Donnie can't really see ghosts and Ignacio wants it to stay that way. Donnie has enough on his mind already to be also worrying about ghosts. His job is rough and he just moved. Ignacio doesn't want him to also be worrying about ghosts and other spooks.

And while somehow they have avoided him finding out so far, that's gonna be hard when next week Ignacio comes joined by Nicole and Vero while carrying a bunch of different crucifixes, eggs, plants, rope, a yembe and a Buddha just in case. I'm sure he'll figure something out but honestly, that's just playing for time.

Donnie finding out is just inevitable, isn't it? And I'm not really spoiling anything cause I haven't really decided anything but when he inevitably does find out, I'm sure it will be the fault of that goddamned doll.

That's their dynamic: The ghost hunter dates a guy with a haunted house but can't really tell him, because, btw, the former owner of the house was a really mean old lady, and those ghosts are really stubborn so that baby is gonna stay haunted for a while.

So that's why Donnie hasn't appeared in a while. I've been focused on the Whisperers fighting off spooks and Donnie doesn't really form part of that world. But lately I've been thinking I should do a bit more slice of life stuff with these guys. Not only because Donnie could appear more. But that way maybe after 3 pictures of nothing happening (or is it?) and a false sense of uncertainty settles in, Wham! The river beast, Skeleton Groupies and “The noodle” in the fourth one.

There are two versions for this piece because right after I finished drawing the ghost I felt it wasn't really working. With it so close to the camera and then I felt it would work better if the ghost looked less… let's say “human” for the lack of a better term. The final one is inspired by Gon’s transformation in the Hunter X Hunter anime (Spoilers).

The original inspiration for this piece was actually seeing drops of water fall from the roof of the balcony of one of my neighbors. This has been a really rainy year where I live and I think it has been reflected on my art lately.

Speaking as one of those Donnie-heads, it's wonderful to finally find out more about the elusive polar bear and see him with Ignacio again! They make a lovely couple - especially in an up-close slice of life moment like this that not even the menacing presence of a ghost can ruin^^ - and I hope him learning about his bf's job doesn't come between them, at least not for long...I can just imagine him suddenly catching sight of that goddamned doll after the latter got careless and him nearly having a heart attack while Ignacio frantically tries to explain everything X3
