The band stops at a nice hotel during one of their tours.
Now, I said nice, but I didn't say fancy nor expensive. And Diana can't sleep so she goes out of the room and enjoys some quiet time, maybe looking at the pool.
The setting is inspired by a mashup of a couple of places I've been, mainly, an hotel I stayed at for one night after missing the bus after a family reunion and some cool looking balconies on buildings close to my friends’ house.
There's not so much of a backstory for this one, I pretty much just worked it out of vibes tbh.
There's a fun detail though. Diana's sleeping shirt with the sleepy bear is back! And I came up with a backstory for it.
I think the bear on the shirt is a character from an old in-universe cartoon Diana used to watch when she was a kid, and who was Diana's first cartoon crush. The shirt is a bootleg with a slightly spicier design taken from the internet and that Diana bought on a flea market one day.
I haven't decided what type of cartoon it was though I've drawn some concepts out of distraction while making this piece. I just know that it was probably forgotten for years after airing and later had a bit of a resurgence through some memes and that's where the T-shirt came from.
There's a bunch of Ideas I've been wanting to try for a while and I had some trouble deciding what this piece was going to be, at first I only had the concept of framing her with negative space made out of darkness but it was going to be through a window and I wanted to use some neon lights but then I wanted it to be full body, and then the neon was weird, so these ideas will have to wait a bit more.
Actually, there's one of them that I think will end up as a picture featuring some of the Whisperers' characters. I've sketched some of it but I'm having troubles looking for space to put a spook in there so it may end up being a rare “non spooky” Whisperers piece.
This was sketched on procreate, then done on Photoshop and then returned to procreate for some final details. Mainly the water reflections, cause there's a brush on procreate for that that I wanted to try..
