Or the Halloween special.
On this week episode, after a comedic mixup, The Worndown Children will have to search for the kid that took Lil's bag of her mother's home made "magic candy"
Well I kind of did it again and overdid this piece.
It originally was going to be only the band. The first idea for this year was that they were going to be waiting at a subway station or bus stop. But I realized that those would need background characters anyway so I ended up going all the way in. And that gave me the chance to put some “©Cameos” Can you name them all?
The place where they're at now is heavily based in a market close to where I live that is where the big Halloween events happen in my town. there's concerts, contests and all of that.
I ended up redrawing a lot from the wip I posted last week, mainly because I changed a lot of the costumes but also just to make it a bit more dynamic and integrate all of them into the thing. Most of them were just standing before.
I finally nailed Davo's costume! That was the one giving me the most problems. But I think I nailed it with him going as Winslow Leach. It's horror related. It's music related. And it's an obscure enough reference to feel on brand for him but not enough for people to not recognize it.
With Lil and Diana I first did a switcheroo and yes, Witch Lil work way better, and I actually liked skeleton Zara until I put the makeup on her and it turn from a skeleton costume I to a panda costume. Should have seen that one coming… So in the end I decided to go with a classic for her and draw her as Ripley from Alien. I actually first wanted the costume from Aliens but I feel that for that one you really need the boots and it felt weird having only her wearing shoes. Still, don't be surprised if I later make a second version of this piece.
Tak and Tony's two kids in a trench coat costume stayed. I mentioned that I still had my doubts. They were mainly about how it could work, but I think I have it. First, They're using a harness. And second I think they have a second costume under the trenchcoat in case Tak gets tired. They're going as Denji and Power from Chainsaw man.
RJ as a ghost and Zara Barbie stayed cause I find the idea really funny. I feel it is a nice subversion of expectations and I find humor in the image of RJ stitching two bed sheets together so they fit. But who knows, maybe he's also going as Ken under the sheet. Or Oppie. Lol.
Still due to popular demand I also attached a sketch of them as Gomez and Morticia. Fun fact, they were going to be Fred and Daphne last year until the Velma news dropped and I had to make Diana Velma.
