And Again from the "I can't believe I never posted this" collection, here's another final project for my college.
You know, the trick to do school projects is to make one that will work for more than 1 course. This beauty was my final project for my Digital Illustration and the cover for my booklet for Graphic Design and Expression classes. For this last one I presented a whole pitch bible with these guys and what back then was their story. I’ve introduced them before I think but I don’t draw them that often, so here’s them
They’re Alex and Taj. Alex is the muscle of the group. She has perfect aim and she’d be a black belt if she had been trained in an actual martial art. But street fighting doesn’t give belts. He on the other hand practices boxing but he’s not gonna win any titles. What he does have is that he can drive, sail and pilot almost any vehicle in the world.
The idea for these two is kind of a Bonnie and Clyde meets Ducktales and TinTin scenario. They're a couple of adventurers traveling around the world searching for treasures, sometimes making movies and Killing fascists. They live in an alternate world history during the 30s that's also the 40s and 60s right before WWII.
I wrote a whole story for them to present it with the pitch bible but if I’m being honest it wasn’t that great. I put most of my effort on the pictures and the story I came up with in one night. This one being of course, the night before presenting the project.
For the enemy planes I chose Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2s for absolutely no other reason than because I liked the design. In this they’re actually not fighting Japan but a big European corporation/Private Army that happens to own a fleet of Japanese planes over some lost ruins hidden for centuries in the Patagonian desert. It was a crazy story.
Got a lot of stuff with these guys from that pitch bible I forgot to post because I saved most of it as school stuff and not as art on my drive.
One thing that isn’t here and I haven’t actually applied yet but I’ve considered is that Alex should be afraid of flying. That’d be a fun dynamic between them I think. It’d complicate their adventures a bit and add more tension.
This piece was done trying to emulate the style of Carl Barks Ducktales Illustrations. This a bit after the Ducktales 2017” reboot came out and I had a bit of a hyperfixation. Funny thing is that if you look at my art posted back then you maybe wouldn’t notice. Well, It is here. A lot of what I did during that period unfortunately wasn’t posted. I also started a lot of fanarts back then but I think I never finished one because It felt weird drawing those characters in my style and copying the show’s style felt redundant.
That happens a lot to me when doing fanart. That’s why I don't do as much as I’d like.
This one is also on my wall as I had to print it to present it.
