january (and commentary on zandalari)
Added 2025-01-05 03:11:29 +0000 UTCTo start off, Holiday delay covers several things that I wanted to say, so take a look at that if you haven't yet.
Upon reviewing my body of work for 2024, what stuck out like a sore thumb to me was the utter lack of Zandalari. This bugs me more than you might know, since I love Zandalari and nothing gets me more excited than..."fiddling" around with them, but there was a personal reason why I didn't make anything with them last year (not even personal fap material).
And that was because I wasn't a fan of the morphs + proportions that I had given the Zandalari model I was using. I've posted an image detailing the differences on my social media (not doing so here because it's NSFW).
You might be wondering what was wrong with his model, especially since he seemed to look so good in many projects like #97 - handsome and cocky. Well that's because I disguised a lot of the problems he already had then with on the fly morphs and other subtle tweaks. His abs were something I was never really satisfied with, and I found myself having strange issues trying to get him to "fit" alongside the other models. I came to realize it's because I had given him limbs that were too long; his wacky limb proportions were a remnant of the original Zandalari model I had used many years ago, back when my sense of creative judgment were certainly a lot worse than they are now.
So I ended up reverting and changing many of the morphs I had originally made to the model. The overall intention with these changes was to come closer to the OG model's silhouette. The three biggest things to note are:
1. His abs and pecs are completely redone. In my opinion they're 200% better than before, even if they appear a little smaller and less broad. Since morphs are always adjustable, they can be made bigger if necessary, but what I'm teasing are a nice and balanced size to them. Plus, I think you can tell I don't exactly give my guys small pecs anyways.
2. His limbs are much shorter and shifted back to their original positions. This makes him look notably shorter compared to the previous iteration of the model, but this is really how it should be imo.
3. His love handles are back. The OG silhouette features surprisingly prominent love handles for a guy that is otherwise so perfectly muscular and athletic looking, which rubbed me the wrong way at first and I morphed them out. That was a horrible mistake, and now they're back where they've always belonged.
And there were other various changes. Mostly polishing up his face, some texture details, the gilded effect on his tattoos, etc.
Now you might be wondering if I've made anything new with the updated models, and the short answer is yes. Yes yes yes. And they've made me very happy if you know what I mean. 💦
But, they certainly fall into the realm of personal fap material atm that aren't quite good enough for public consumption imo. So other than these little teasers I've been posting lately on social media, unfortunately you'll have to wait a bit to see more finished pieces with these sexy Zandalari in it. Trust me though when I say that 2025 will be a much more fruitful year when it comes to Zandalari than it was in 2024.
As for the Darkspear Troll model, that one hasn't seen much use simply because I haven't really found a good opportunity to use him yet outside of a few small appearances. I don't have any issues with his model (not really at least), so hopefully we'll be seeing more of him soon too.

Latest PSDs and scraps will still be hosted on Google Drive first.
