Did you know that it's actually been almost 5 years since #71 - zandalicious, which was the last project that featured a regular Darkspear Troll? Yes there's been a quickie with a Troll since then, but we don't really talk about that one since it was literally just reusing old scraps. It's really been 5 years since I've touched a Troll.
This was so long overdue. But it's a good thing that it took me this long to come back to Trolls, because I've learnt so much since then with how I now prefer to sculpt and pose these models.
My overall guiding philosophy in these recent years is to stick close to the "official" silhouette of these models whenever I can, and don't go too far into cringe OC territory. So with that in mind, I didn't fiddle around with where his arm/shoulder joints where located (which is what I did back in the day), and this preserves how his upper body looks while he is hunched. His head is asymmetrically larger, about 7-10% or so depending on the axis. I feel like he looks better balanced this way with that giant body of his.
Now let's talk about the morphs. I did want to retain the option to portray him more in an upright state whenever the situation would call for it (like if he's arching his back in pleasure), so I realized that I would need to create a very extensive list of morphs (50+) that I would also need to dynamically adjust, depending on the pose, in order to properly display his musculature how I want it. Most of those morphs are fixated on his lower abdomen, which stretches/compresses quite a bit depending on if he's hunched or not.
Right now he's definitely more of an Amani Troll in build. Vaguely Zandalari-ish too when he's upright, and if it weren't for his natural lankiness, but of course my morphs are adjustable, so I can go thinner or thicker depending on preference.
That's all I have to say for now. I will have to start brainstorming ideas with him soon.
