TrueOdin wrote some code into demaster that will allow me to release the battlefields and world textures as dds files which will reduce lag in those areas of the game immensely!

2020-05-30 03:08:57 +0000 UTCEverything looks phenomenal so far. I've played up to the beginning of Disc 2. Great job honestly. Thanks for working so hard on this. One issue however. I've noticed with this mod in conjunction with HorizonPack 1.1a, ProjectAngelWingGP 1.1a, and LunarCry 2.0a I experience microstuttering when transitioning areas in the game and sometimes during battle. Specifically the fight with Seifer and the subsequent fight with Edea at the end of Disc 1 (Before D-District prison). The game slows down significantly with the battle field loaded in, and gains moderate speed ups with summons. I retested this fight unmodded and it runs at full speed.

2020-05-25 23:20:07 +0000 UTCNot to diminish MCindus' work so far, but I agree. ESRGAN could really enhance the fields beyond Project Angelwing. I only have limited knowledge with modding, but I do have some experience with machine learning. What I might do is experiment on a few fields with ESRGAN to see what I can produce. If I can get useful outputs, MCindus, I might get in touch with advice on how I can scale things up and how to get it working with DEMASTER.

2020-05-13 10:13:36 +0000 UTCLooks fantastic! Do you have any plans to release your own upscaled Field pack? I feel like Project Angelwing's backgrounds are a bit lackluster since they're based on Waifu and GeDoSaTo. I've been playing Moguri Mod's ESRGAN upscale for FF9 (beta V8) and it's absolutely stunning how much detail they managed to add to the backgrounds between the ESRGAN upscale and some hand-edits. It's definitely raised the bar for field upscales, and I'd love to see something of similar quality level come to FF8R. Can't wait to try the Battlefield pack. It's almost impressive how ugly the default ones in FF8R were. I'm pretty sure SQE didn't bother putting ANY effort into remastering those at all, ugh...
