πŸ™‹ Go ahead and leave some questions below for us to look at for SR211 this weekend! (Note: We record on Friday nights in the US, so it's highly recommended to leave all questions by noon on Friday in the US)

It can be about a specific story, a general question about privacy/security, a question about the world, a question you tried last week, or anything else. Due to time restraints we can't promise that we'll get to yours, but we appreciate all of them!

Hey CBB, sorry for not replying to this. We covered this recently, so I meant to reply directly rather than on the Q&A. In addition to our recent Q&A about modems, we also covered this topic here (https://www.patreon.com/posts/q-what-search-s-110133423) and a little bit here (https://www.patreon.com/posts/q-whats-best-of-119610019). I have a friend in Europe that pays cash for other people to go and activate a simcard for him. It would really only allow one burner though.

what advice do you have about maintaining privacy in regards to car telemetry. My sh*tbox is finally dying out and I am in the market for a new vehicle. I know that you mentioned removing the modem can have unintended consequences and is the 'nuclear' option, so are there more moderate steps I can take to reduce telemetry or prevent my car from being able to be tracked at all times?

Hey David, this isn't a discounted used device, but I do still think you might want to check it out; it seems pretty cool. https://mecha.so/comet

A set of four very narrow questions because there may not be much to say in response to some of them: What do you think are good FOSS options for managed link layer switches (not routers where there are a number of well-known options like pfsense and DD-WRT/open-WRT)? What sources of discounted used electronics for experimentation and tinkering (as opposed to primary personal device use) do you like most? Obviously, major distributors and brand-name companies list refurbished/open-box/etc. options, but are there less well-known and underappreciated sources? What good privacy-respecting alternatives to Google Apps Script do you know of that have an execution environment hosted in the cloud and can do things like automatically sending emails at specified times with script-generated content, etc? Have you or people you know used "domains by proxy" service? A number of whois lookups resolve to it, and it seems like it could be a privacy-enhancing feature for personal custom domains.

First question. Lots of sites require a mobile number for registration these days. Do you have any tips on creating junk accounts in these cases when you live in a country that requires to show your government ID to get a prepaid card or subscription? Are there cheap ways to do that? For example, maybe getting a temporary phone number somehow and then reusing that phone number for several services like Google, Microsoft and so on? Second. Is there any privacy related thing you are looking forward to in 2025? Maybe a new product or feature or some new strategy that you are planning to implement this year?

Hey guys, I hope you're doing well! I have a couple of questions for you. Have you seen the new passport prime by foundation? And if so, what are your thoughts? It looks like an extremely solid security device to me and the team behind it seems incredible. Also, have either of you considered creating polycentric identities for your channels via FUTO ID/Harbor.social? I've been starting to see people transition to GrayJay and start using polycentric identities (Which are really easy to set up) and it would be great to be able to engage with you two in those comment sections instead of through YouTube. Lastly, what are your thoughts on Whonix? Wishing you both all the best, thank you for everything you do πŸ‘Š
