School of Lust v0.9.4 Progress Report #3

Hi everyone!

We've just released School of Lust version 0.9.4 to all patrons at Level 20+ on the Download Portal. Since this update includes significant backend changes, we have to run a closed alpha test before rolling it out to all Level 10 patrons.

As we mentioned in our last post, we had to upgrade our animation software since the old one in School of Lust is older than Rickroll memes. The new software also comes with a bunch of new features we needed to make the animations look prettier (・3・)

Unfortunately, that upgrade also set off a chain of problems, the biggest one being that the new animated scenes we've been working on turned out nearly unplayable/unwatchable because of constant lag spikes:

We've had to make some updates to the "garbage collection" system, a behind-the-scenes game engine adjustment that helps optimize game performance. This change has made new animated scenes work as smooth as butter (for us at least ^_^), and it should hopefully also improve performance in general. Get ready, because lots of new and improved animated scenes are coming in the next updates!

With how complex School of Lust has become, we're still hesitant if these changes might have broken something else. We've been running internal tests and while we found plenty of issues (that are fixed now) we didn't find anything critical, but we're counting on the closed alpha testing to give us full confidence.

We've also done some fixes to possible incompatibility with old save files caused by the Hole minimap plugin. This was causing really old save files not to load, but that should (hopefully) be fixed now.

New content in version 0.9.4 includes the finale to Flora's exhibitionism scene (including a special animated scene), the major reveal in the "Anonymous" quest chain, an "interesting" new animated Harfort scene and a bunch of smaller changes. The Harfort scene is probably going to be a little controversial. We're really looking forward to your reaction if this scene goes too far or not and even if we should continue on it... It's a genre we've not explored much before, but it may be shocking to some ◉‿◉

We unfortunately had to postpone some of the other main story content again and Natalie's exhibitionism finale as we are remaking her "Special" animated scene from scratch, which doesn't look like we'll able to finish by the end of this month (︶︹︶) We'll include that in a follow-up update as soon as possible, since we didn't want to delay this release any longer.

We'll post again as soon as closed alpha testing finishes and the new update is available for all level 10+ patrons.
