Frequently Asked Questions

Hi everyone!

We've received quite a few support requests, since the launch of School of Lust v0.3, and unfortunately we have been lagging on answering all of your questions, so we decided to create this page to answer your most frequently asked questions.

If your question isn't listed here, or if it doesn't solve your problem, please feel free to contact us (if you haven't already), and we'll get back to you asap.

Q: I just pledged. Why does the download portal still say that there are no downloads available?

A: If you've waited an hour, and the downloads still do not show up, please contact us for a download link by e-mail.

The download portal is dependent on the Patreon API to update the user pledges, and unfortunately, sometimes it takes Patreon longer than normal to update their API, which in return affects our download portal. This is mainly the case at the start of the month, when Patreon is especially under heavy load.

Q: How do I use the previous saved files to continue to play where I was left of in an earlier version of the game?

A:  If you're playing on Windows, transfer all the files inside your /www/save/ folder into the /www/save/ folder of the new game folder.

On MacOS, you need to open the SchoolofLust.app file of the previous version, by right clicking and selecting "Show Package Contents". Now head over to the following directory: /Contents/Resources/app.nw/save/ and move all the files inside, to the new game app.

Q: I played School of Lust on my browser. How do I transfer my save files from my browser to the Desktop version of the game?

A:  You have to find the Local Storage in your browser. In Chrome, you need to press F12, go to the Application tab, then click on Local Storage. There should be a subfolder with the website domain (for Newgrounds it would be "https://uploads.ungrounded.net"), containing all save files. You can just manually copy the contents to the files in the desktop version (edit them with notepad as text files), they are located in www/save. 

Q: Is there a walk-through for School of Lust?

A:  There is a Wiki page over here, which provides details, but the game is pretty straightforward. If you're stuck, follow the "Objectives" page on the in-game phone menu, which will provide instructions on what to do. Look on the "Memories" map, which can be accessed from the computer in your bedroom, to see if you've unlocked all scenes. Keep in mind that certain scenes and objectives only appear after you advance the days in the game, which you can do by sleeping in your bed. Finally, if you're still stuck, you can always contact us for help.

Q: Why do I get the error message, "The application "SchoolofLust" can't be opened", when I run the game on Mac?

A: This is a permission problem on Mac computers. Please follow the instructions over at https://www.patreon.com/posts/19874796 to resolve it.

Q: Why do I get the error message, "EPERM, operation not permitted, open precachelist.json", when I run the game?

A: This is a permission problem that can occur on both Windows and Mac computer.

On Windows, it usually occurs when you place the folder in "My Documents" or anywhere similar, where permission is limited. This can be resolved by moving the game folder to somewhere else (like your C drive) on your hard drive.

On Mac,  after you download the game file, unzip it, and move/copy the "SchoolofLust" app to the "Applications" directory and please make sure to run the "SchoolofLust"       application from within the Applications directory.

Q: Why is the screen distorted when I play School of Lust, like this:

A: Please update your video drivers to fix this problem. If it still doesn't resolve your problem, you have to change the shaders, which you can do by replacing the libEGL.dll and libGLESv2.dll files with the libEGL_orig.dll and libGLESv2_orig.dll files that can be found in the /shaders folder. Make sure you remove the "_orig" from the file name, when replacing the files in the root game folder.

Q: Why do I get stuck at a white screen when I run School of Lust?

A: Please update your video drivers to solve this problem. If it does not resolve your problem, it may have to do with the way you unzipped the file. We strongly recommend using a 3rd party tool (like 7-Zip or WinZip), instead of the standard Windows extraction tool, to unzip the downloaded game file.

We're working to solve this in the future, so the file will be compatible with the default Windows extraction tool.

Q: Why do I get stuck on the loading screen when I run or load a save file in School of Lust?

A: If you get stuck on the loading screen while trying to load a save file, please zip your entire save folder and send it over as an attachment to contact@bonergames.com and we'll look into what is causing this issue.

If you get stuck on the loading screen immediately when you run School of Lust, it usually indicates that a file is missing. Please try unzipping the game with a 3rd party tool (like 7-Zip or WinZip) and see if it resolves your problem. If not, please contact us and we'll look into this right away.

Q: Why can't I load my save file? It just plays an error sound when I try to load it.

A: This could either be a backward compatibility issue in the game, or a permission problem on your computer. Please make sure that your save folder and files are not set to read-only. You can check by right clicking the save folder/file and selecting Properties. At the bottom, under Attributes, make sure that the Read-only checkbox has not been selected.

If that doesn't solve your problem, it's most likely a bug in the game. Please zip your entire save folder and send it over as an attachment to contact@bonergames.com and we'll look into what is causing this issue. Please make sure to let us know which save slot is causing the problem (f it is is a specific one).

Q: Why do I keep crashing/freezing while playing School of Lust?

A: School of Lust is still in Alpha, and if you crash at a specific point, it could be a bug. Please report it to us, by contacting us and giving us as much detail as possible (e.g. where did it happen, what were you doing etc.).

If you keep crashing very frequently, it could be that your computer does not meet the minimum requirements to run the game. The minimum requirements to run School of Lust is as following (at the moment):

• OS: WindowsR 7 or later / MacOS
• Processor: Intel R Core i3-3220 or equivalent
• Memory: 2 GB RAM
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT220 or equivalent

We are working to optimize the game, to make sure it will work on less powerful hardware.
