I’m so glad you have so much admiration for Dawn, because she really is such an amazing addition to the show. And it makes me so frustrated that people hate her so much!!! Honestly, I don’t know where the show would have gone if Dawn hadn’t come along. I mean, you said it best… adding her to the show allowed for so much character development for Buffy. I think the writers could have played it very safe after Season 4 and just ran with Buffy’s story line of being in college and slaying vampires for the last few seasons. But Dawn’s introduction in Season 5 presented Buffy with a whole set of new challenges that forced her not only to grow up really quickly, but also pushed her to become an even better slayer. I mean, I love seeing Buffy in more of a “Watcher” role this season, because I realize that without Dawn, without having to face Glory and sacrifice herself for the world, without having to claw herself out of her own grave, and without having to go through everything she went through in Seasons 5 & 6… she probably wouldn’t even be remotely prepared to lead a group of potential slayers into battle against the First Evil. Buffy’s been through A LOT, and her experience makes her such an incredible teacher. And, like, let’s be so real… Dawn was annoying for a minute in Season 5. But she has matured so much and, at this point in the show, there’s no denying that. I think this episode is a true testament to how far she has come, especially when you consider how traumatic it is that she was literally created by monks and imbued with mystical energy that could have ended the world. Let’s cut the girl a break if she’s a tiny bit annoying. 🙄 All this to say… thank you, Dawn. Without you, Buffy would still just be in college. You really are the unsung hero. 😂😭❤️ #JusticeForDawn ✊🏻

2025-06-22 06:48:42 +0000 UTCYou have no idea how happy it makes me that you are a fan of Dawn! When season 5 started , I was worried you would dislike her (cuz a lot of people do). But everything you've said , is how I feel. I think she's such an under- appreciated character. I will say , it did take me a while to come to this conclusion. When I first watched season 5 (I was 12) and I found her annoying . But as I re-watched over the years and while growing up myself , I realized how amazing she actually is . I'm so happy you came to this conclusion with your first watch through of the show (im sure you will re-watch it a few times lol) 😊
