Not the point of the episode. But it always bothered me how some of these actors, like the one playing Olaf really does a good job with speaking what I assume they want to be Norwegian/Danish/Swedish. But many others speak have words that sound like gibberish 😅 I am guessing there were no budget for language lessons 😅

The hypocrisy is actually on Xander's part. Buffy's job is not to kill all demons, but rather demons who pose a current risk to society. Anya fits that category. Spike with a chip does not. Buffy probably also would've killed dark Willow if she was still actively trying to destroy the world. Buffy never ended up getting the opportunity to try. Either way, the most important point is that Anya is choosing to kill people. She even has a soul (it would seem all human-turned-vengeance demons do), and she's choosing to kill people. Xander judged Buffy for being with Spike and Angel, but he's in love with a cruel, mass-murdering demon who doesn't even have the lack of conscience that vampires have, she just simply didn't care until she spent years getting close with Xander and the Scoobies.

the quickness with which buffy was ready to kill anya always bothered me. willow and spike killed people too, and buffy was willing to forgive them or at least show hesitancy with killing them. i know her argument is "well anya's a demon and willow is human". willow was a supernatural witch trying to end the world. that's a little more than just "human". and spike was definitely a demon. being neutered with the chip didn't change that. there was definitely some hypocrisy on buffy's part here.
