2023-02-10 20:36:38 +0000 UTCRiley is NOT at the point where he would disobey an order or choose Buffy over his duty, he's hard core, do it by the book, hospital corners, obey every order guy. You missed it because you were talking but at her meeting with Buffy, Walsh actually says "we thought you were a myth" and Riley had never heard of a Slayer until the last episode when Forrest explained that he too thought it was a myth made up in the supernatural world. Point being that Buffy's not known, at this point, as a world class fighter with super powers to the Initiative and as crazy as he may be about her, Riley's been dating her for just a couple weeks. As far as Ethan's spell being removed, If you watch again you'll see Ethan sitting on the floor with a magic looking circle of items in front of him and some smoke or incense before the camera pans to Giles in Ethan's clothes and he's touching his chest where Buffy stuck him. I imagine the spell could've been cast at any point the previous night, Giles was pretty plastered. Also notice Willow deliberately lied about where she was the previous night when Buffy said she didn't hear her come in. Willow said she was alone in the chem lab doing a spell by herself. Why lie about that? Especially to Buffy.
