Angel 1x3 FULL Reaction

Angela’s Ashes is a Pulitzer-winning bestseller. It’s Frank McCourt’s memoir of his childhood in absolute poverty in the slums of Limerick/Ireland in the 1930s. It has also been turned into a movie with the great Robert Carlyle as the father, who is an alcoholic who can’t keep a job and drinks the money away. The movie is alright but has nothing on the book, which is fantastic! It’s one of those stories that rips your heart out, throws it on the floor, stomps on it, and you still say thank you. (It also has a good deal of humour though)

On the Buffy episode, Oz offers to drop the ring off with Angel since he had a gig in LA. You asked about Spike saying “white hat” to Angel. In westerns typically the good guy wears a white hat and the bad guys wear a black hat. Spike doesn’t need permission to enter the house of another vampire. They only need permission to enter the home of humans.

It also ties in with what he said to Rachel: you can either take the easy road or the hard road. The metaphor worked just as much for him as it did for her. Angel sees the ring as the easy road that would allow him to enjoy the sun and everything else that comes with it. He doesn't think that he has earned that 'reward' (this is also why he didn't want to use the ring at the beginning). More so, I think that he is afraid that if he uses the ring, he might eventually lose sight of his purpose and why he is fighting so hard: redemption. Meanwhile, the hard road for him is to stay on his current path, helping people despite the hardships and the pain he has to go through. He believes that THIS road is the one that might earn him real redemption for his past crimes. It's all about how he perceives the ring. It's like if you were in a tough class and the professor gave you an A+ grade two weeks in without you having to prove yourself. Angel is not the kind of person who would want that. Hopefully this makes more sense to you, Thor.

You didn't get the Frankie Tripod bit and I love that. You aren't as dirty minded as many of us are who got that immediately. As for why Angel won't wear the ring: 2 main reasons. 1: he'd be a constant target of every vamp who wanted the ring. So, no time to help the hopeless. 2) We already know the curse is flawed. If it can be broken once, it can be broken again and the last vamp we want to have the ring is Angelus. So, the safest thing is just to destroy it.

honestly yes and no, some people, really prefer Buffy, some prefer Angel and they will debate which is best. Some think they are equal and recognize them as what they are great but very different energy. The ring I think it is a combination of things one changes no one likes change, to Angel, especially after Buffy started trying to think things through, and What he said at the end I think is still one of the main things on his mind.

I really love to see you enjoying this show so much. Your face when Spike just appeared was priceless! Totally on board with Spike as narrator hahaha About the destruction of the ring, I think Angel's bigger fear is to become Angelus again, so, the least thing he needs is to worry about all the evil and chaos that he can bring if he becomes invincible. I agree that this show is about vampires, monsters and more, but I also agree that the life and conflicts in the town are a very interesting side of the serie. The supernatural theme caught my attention when I was younger, but now is also great have the opportunity to have fun and share our more "serious" thoughts about it. I think you are never annoying, so, please, never change. You are awesome and I'm sure that all the people who follows you agree. Thanks for the great reaction. See you in the next one. ;)
