The Amazing Spider-Man 2 FULL Reaction

Well... yeah....
Anyways, this movie is underrated.  Electro's theme song is SO EPIC, and I also think that Peter's chemistry with Gwen is on-point!  Also, this is my favorite Spider-Man suit put on the big screen... am I alone in thinking this??  Let me know what you thought about the ending...

Yeah, sorry about that, Domi's mic didn't work (she noticed later), and so we had to use the audio from the obs screen recording, which of course included the movie. Hopefully it didn't compromise the whole experience, and it shouldn't happen again!

Am I the only one who hears the sound of the movie in the patreon video ? So it's echoing with my own copy

OK, I finally got around to this today. First of all, I loved the intro about Patreon. I know you guys want to be professional but “blunders” like that happen to the best of us and I personally prefer real over perfection anyway. That whole segment was hilarious. The ending - that was so interesting to watch because Domi’s reaction was literally me when I saw this. I really thought Peter saved her because I had been so conditioned by other superhero movies. I noticed a stark difference in your reaction. Domi was so hopeful and you were not so it totally makes sense knowing that you knew that info beforehand. I personally would’ve hated knowing that. The shock of that ending was such a memorable experience for me. I was in denial just like Domi, but even if he caught her earlier, the rebounding/ whiplash would’ve snapped her neck or spine regardless I think. Love story - I agree that they did a great job building on this relationship as you guys said, but I will say that I disagree with Domi about career and relationships. It’s not one or the other for me. While I do agree that you shouldn’t make your whole life about another person and neglect yourself, I also don’t think that man was made to be alone and even if you have no desire for romance, I believe humans were created for connection. Life can’t be all about career either. And I do personally lean more towards the importance of relationships but that’s a lengthy debate with many layers haha. I also hold an unpopular opinion regarding the broken promise. The only mistake Peter made was agreeing to that promise when his heart was not in it. Peter I’m sure felt immense guilt at the end because of that promise but he and Gwen could only follow their hearts, as they should, since theirs was a true love. My view is that we only have one life. As a parent and in fact all of us know, that we will all die eventually, and yet there is a constant fear and desire to prevent it. Yes, Gwen got into Oxford and she had her whole life ahead of her, but knowing the strength of her love for Peter, wouldn’t she be living a half life without him? Would you rather live a long life that was safe and mundane or a short but full life filled with abundance where you got to experience true love? For me it comes down to quality of life over quantity and so I don’t think Peter did anything wrong, especially since he tried to stop Gwen but she insisted on helping. Gwen exerting her free will really just emphasises my point that although her father meant well, no one has the right to prevent you from making your own life choices. Anything done by force is control, not love. I also like your point about Harry. I had a problem with both villains in this film. Their arcs were rushed and lacked complexity. I too would’ve preferred more time developing Harry. I think there was a missed opportunity to flesh out his insecurity being the “rich kid.” Having studied alongside people with this upbringing, I can safely say I never envied their life. Many of them came from neglectful homes and the loneliness that comes with the inability to trust people is very real. Had they spent a bit more time with Peter and Harry, I think the “betrayal” would’ve felt less shallow. But even with Electro(?)…his loneliness and desire to be “seen” felt a bit forced. I probably would’ve introduced his character by starting off with ‘a day in a life’ scenario where you see his isolated home life and work life (maybe eating alone or trying to make friends but no real connections). He could’ve been a far more emotionally complex character but just like Spider-Man 3, they tried to do too much. Final point, yes, the action was cool in this film, however, I’m not sure if I liked the execution at times. It kind of felt like video game to me which is why I much prefer the Raimi movies overall. PS: You haven’t seen “Friends”?? 😳😮 To be fair, I get the vibe you’re more of a “Seinfeld” person but if you ever decide to give Friends a go, please, please consider reacting to it on the channel. It’s the only sitcom I’ve seen where I still laugh at the jokes as if it’s the first time no matter how many times I’ve seen it. I love it 😇 Anyway, great discussion as always Thor! :)

Omg you’ve never seen this one right? Dang, I don’t have time right now but I’ll definitely be watching this in full as I remember the ending left me speechless the first time I watched it. The chemistry between Peter and Gwen made this loss extremely painful. I didn’t read the comics so I was not expecting that ending. It was so…realistic? You always see people being flung around in Spider-Man movies but I loved how accurate this movie was in terms of probability and the physics of such an attempt. I found this ending far more haunting and tragic because it felt so real. It felt like a mistake a superhero could make if they existed in our reality too. And as much as I adore the Raimi movies, I really love how the Garfield ones brought a sense of realism and consequence that really made me think long after the film. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on this one 🤗
