Buffy the Vampire Slayer Ep 7 FULL Reaction

Angel.  Angel.  Angel.  wow... my favorite episode so far...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Ep 7 FULL Reaction

Comments

Favourite episode of Season 1. Loved learning about Angel. I’m glad you see the potential in his character too. I’m also super happy you are enjoying the first season. I know because it’s older now & a bit campy that it might be hard to take it seriously but I swear, Buffy only gets better as the seasons go on. It’s been really interesting re-watching the show through your eyes. Seeing the twists & turns that’d lost their surprise to me since I’ve seen Buffy so many times. It’s been really cool to be reminded just how impressive this show was at breaking barriers & changing up the dynamics. Enjoy the Buffy ride. Looking forward to going on this journey with you & everyone else watching. It’s gonna be awesome!

I always love seeing people reacting to the show now that haven't seen any spoilers, getting to be surprised with reveals like Angel being a Vampire. as was mentioned in a previous comment, there are certain events in the show that were impactful to what the show became, that it would be hard to not be spoiled, simply because they are part of pop culture from the era. I do love your innocence and enthusiasm when these things are revealed. It shows so much on your face and is nice to see, even after all this time. It's what we felt when it originally aired. Hope it continues throughout the rest of your watch

and another here who upped their sub to see this episode earlier :3 love your thoughts on this one, Thor. I can tell you're only going to enjoy this show more and more as it goes on

Another one here who had to up my Patreon subscription to see this reaction now instead of next week :P. This is one of my favourite episodes of Season 1… I’ve seen it so many times that I was reciting all the dialogue along with the characters :P. Buffy was one of the first vampire shows I ever saw, way back in early 1999, and it really was groundbreaking at the time. A lot of tropes that you see in TV shows these days originated with Buffy… so concepts like a vampire having a soul/being ‘good’ were brand new back then. As someone who grew up with Buffy (I was 13 when Season 1 premiered but didn't start watching until I was 15, when the BBC started airing it), it’s really interesting to see how people react to it in 2021, given how TV shows have evolved since then :).

Saw that you had gotten up to this one and I just *had* to join the patreon to see it early :D "Angel's a vampire" is one of those spoilers that it's easy to learn even without knowing much about the show just through pop-culture osmosis, so I'm glad you were able to avoid all that and experience the reveal naturally! It's a pretty well-executed twist in that it seems obvious in retrospect and explains a lot about his behavior up to now, but would be difficult to guess because the show has never given us any reason to believe a vampire could be anything other than an evil, murderous monster. (Nice job on calling it seconds before it was revealed, though!) Definitely one of the top episodes of the season--probably my second or third favorite.

This episode was a blast, and the part where Darla was with Buffy's Mom had me nervous haha... and I mean, c'mon, Cordelia is just so wonderfully sassy and her insults are too funny. I think in Ep 1 I was rooting against her.. but then she said something just too hilarious (I forget the exact line) and I've loved her since. And thanks for your support!

Nicholas Crowell

Okay I had to up my Patreon membership for this one. So happy to see you enjoy it so much. I love when reactors don’t know that Angel is a vampire and haven’t been spoiled. I also enjoy how much you love Cordelia. I love her, too. You picked up on a lot of the rules already of this universe: once a vampire has been invited, they can always come in and no one is safe!

Ashley

Yeah, I guess I just made so many comments about "Where is Angel?" in previous episodes, I'm surprised I didn't realize that he had never been out in daylight and put it all together. But you're right... he wasn't killing and maiming haha so at least I have some excuse. And thanks for the heads up about the post credits scene!

Nicholas Crowell

Hope your classes went well! This one was a lot of fun for me, hope you enjoy :)

Nicholas Crowell

Awesome! Love some good lore in a fantasy show

Nicholas Crowell

This episode just felt different... the show has been a lot of fun so far, but this one was a step above with its themes, its emotions, and the dynamic/ conflict between Angel and Buffy

Nicholas Crowell

I'm looking forward to it. And as much as I'd like to see things escalate, I'm glad to hear that the show doesn't lose that wit/ humor, cause I like that part of it a lot, some really clever, silly, and downright hilarious dialogue

Nicholas Crowell

Yeah, in a way this episode was a game-changer for me. I hope there are more like this

Nicholas Crowell

Well, I've never seen Twilight but from what I've heard about those books/ films... that would be blasphemous..

Nicholas Crowell

Yesss!! I've been waiting for this one. It's tied with another for my favorite ep of S1. Understandable that Angel would throw you off, considering he hasn't displayed typical vamp behavior as Willow put it "killing and maiming every night." Also, just a heads up, there's a credits scene for ep 9.

Kelley

Haven't watched this reaction yet, but I'm so excited to finally get to it after my classes today!

ronnie

Don't worry, you'll learn all the vampire rules as the show goes on :)

Thor should reach out again to other Buffy reactors to find out how they handle spoilers. They've been tnru it and should have good recomendations.

Bud Haven

YAY! My favourite episode, FINALLY! 🤗 - I'm so glad you liked it. Firstly don't worry about not catching the hints about Angel, it's so much more satisfying as a viewer to see that genuine shock especially as some reactors have been spoiled already. I also love how they opened up Angel as a character.....with Twilight and the Vampire boom, people don't realise how groundbreaking Buffy was with this concept. I remember thinking that a vampire with a soul was such an original idea and it opens up so many questions and possibilities as you said. And about Angel killing his family….well, if without a soul a vampire is without remorse, I don’t think that would be too far fetched which would make the story even darker…. Buffy & Angel - I love them…love their chemistry. And I know it’s subjective but the cinematography, the acting, the tenderness, the eye contact… I swear that last scene is one of the closest depictions of genuine a connection between two people falling in love I’ve seen. And yes I know I’m gushing but it’s such a beautiful scene…and I’m a sucker for romance so there’s that too haha. I’m looking forward to more Buffy, but please be very careful of spoilers…youtube will be worse too so do get a mod if you can! :)

Effie

I know Darrell...they'll be worse on youtube so definitely get a moderator on youtube Thor! I'm not sure you can get mods on Patreon unfortunately....

Effie

I agree with Darrell...

Effie

It affects his expectation of who will survive. Please delete your posts so that he can enjoy the full tension of scenes to come.

Darrell Palmer

I'm sorry I don't see how this is a spoiler. It's just merely a suggestion/recommendation.

Jessica Danowski

😳😳😳 The spoilers have started. You are going to need a moderator 😱😱😱

Darrell Palmer

I can see the appreciation on your face as you begin to realize what this show is willing to do and where it is willing to go. This show is not what you expected, it is so much more. 😎

Darrell Palmer

One of the best episodes of Season 1. Good taste of things to come in terms of a more serious tone at times. The show does always keep it's humor though. I can't wait to see what you think as this show progresses.

Dutchkel

This is definitely one of the better episodes of the season--really glad that you enjoyed it so much! I think this is one of those episodes that kind of shows some of the potential of what the show can be despite being in the first season

Ritchie

Yes, now you know Angel is a vampire. Please please please please do not try to compare this show to Twilight in any way. Also, this is just a taste of how good BtVS will eventually become.
