Saturday Update! [ pic edit ]

Good morning horror enthusiasts! I come before you, sweaty and broken.

The week was bad folks. Bad with a capital B. A menty-B actually.

I apologize for my poor performance. One of my personal mottos is 'You win some, you learn some' and boy, I have been learning.

I admit I am a bit burnt out on the art work, but it is absolutely not the source of my problems. My issues mainly come from the Canada Post situation [ which is thankfully ending ] and the construction company I hired to fix up my future apartment.

I thought my fighting with the company was settled but then they kept sending me more massive [$$$$] invoices for things that should have been in the original quote [ so I was under the impression I already paid for them ]. Basically, the woman I spoke to early on to organize the project was supposed to listen to everything I wanted and put it into the quote. She assured me that she did and that everything I wanted was part of the quote. I should have trusted my gut when I noticed her forgetting things I said and lying to my face about small things that just happened. I should have written down everything I wanted myself and had the company sign off on that. I shouldn't have trusted the vaguely written quote in the contract. I made a lot of mistakes.

I've at least been able to fight them down to half on some things. I had to fight them to fix the broken window even though that actually WAS on the quote [ thank god I made them create a second version of the quote when I saw that was missing... they still tried to lie about the costs but since it was in writing on the quote, I think they knew they wouldn't win if it came to a court fight about that ]

I've also had to give up some cosmetic stuff I thought I was getting, but that's okay. I've made my peace with that.

Anyway, the reason I'm telling you guys any of this is because it's been a nightmare experience and I don't want any of you to ever have to deal with this if you ever need to hire a construction company.

• Make your OWN list of everything you want with a high amount of detail, make the company sign off on that with their quote to you

• Make sure all major decisions are recorded in writing somewhere. Do not let them ask for decisions over the phone or verbally without writing it down and having them sign off on it

Learn from my failures.

------------------- More complaining below but about other stuff

On top of that, my current next door neighbours have been screaming at each other maybe 30% of waking hours. My office corner is tragically right against their living room wall.

The Canada Post situation has also been pretty awful this week. I've gotten a lot of angry customers over the week. Most customers have very kindly used the case system to get a refund from Etsy via the seller protection program, but some had the opinion that I should pay for the refunds, so I did. Since I haven't been able to sell anything and I keep giving out refunds, my account has gone negative and soon I will owe Etsy. Not nearly as much as the construction company is screwing me out of but it's all getting a bit scary because I've completely run out of money [ don't worry about me though please, I have a payment coming soon from Steam. I should be able to stay in the black. ]

Speaking of, Canada Post has started working again and everyone's trapped packages should be moving towards them again now. So hopefully that means I won't be getting too many more angry customers. Everything will be slow in the system for a while so I won't be opening my store until probably mid-January. I'll keep a sharp eye on the situation.

So anyway, all of that is to explain why I didn't work on Wednesday or Friday [ mental breakdown on Wednesday. spent the whole day crying and watching youtube shorts. Then I didn't sleep on Thursday night at all and had a massive panic attack all Friday. Kind of a shitshow. ] And that's why all I've done last week is draw 7 CGs and unlock a new kind of tinnitus.

The remaining CGs and backgrounds are pretty much all unique full-screen art, so I'll likely be slower to get through them as well.

I'm not sure how I will perform next week. I'm sure some of you sweet beans are yelling at your screen for me to just take a week off for christmas, but please don't worry. If I choose to work, it will be because I find it soothing to do something familiar. I will take care of myself and do what feels right.

I've had mental breakdowns before and I'll get through this one same as I always have.
