Saturday Update!

This week I don't have very much to show since I took monday and tuesday off for some much needed rest. [ Thank you for giving me an environment where I can do so! ]
I also had a bit extra going on at home since I was babysitting my parent's cat for the week. It was very nice to have a companion for a bit!
Current Image Finalization - 533/745 - 72%
For the 3 days I was working, I focused on some smaller sprite sets, so I only completed a record low of 8 sprites ^^; That was 3 unique bases, then a small number of expression variants.
Weirdly, all 3 sets also required a bit of programming since I made the switch from angled 'comic book' bars being included in the sprite image to being separate items [ so I can animate them coming on and off screen ].
I wish I could show you more but... I think I better keep the other 2 sets to myself. They're a bit 'high-action' and I want players to have a good amount of surprises when the game comes out.
So I think that will have to be all 🙏 Sorry for the short update this week!
I'll be returning back to normal work schedule next week of course, so hopefully we can have a more normal update then :)
Though my numbers may continue to be low for the future 🤔 It's just that the remaining art is going to become more challenging. I'm actually nearly finished with the 'Sprites' folder. There's only 16 unfinished sprites left in there [ mostly unique, practically no variants ]. After that, I move on to a folder labelled 'CGs' which has 181 images, most of which have backgrounds drawn in them, so will require more time to draw. Some of them are variant heavy, which is nice- but I think overall they will be 'the hard ones'.
But, as always, that stuff is pretty much irrelevant at the end of the day. I'm just going to keep taking it one day at a time, working on what I can, and moving forward at whatever pace works for a healthy balance.
Speed and productivity are less important than longevity in my opinion. All that matters is sticking to the goal!
Anyways, thank you guys again for allowing me to rest and take some time off. I feel better and I'm ready to get back to my normal schedule!

Strade was never my favorite character, but oh God, I think his redesign is changing that- I also wanted to say a few words, although it may sound exaggerated. In a university subject I had to make a story based on an image. Since they told us that we could use one that we already had in mind and that it could be about anything, I decided to use a story of two secondary Oc's from my main story, which includes cannibalism, murder, kidnapping and more because I wanted to develop it a bit more. Yesterday I had to give a presentation of what I had done until now and it went well, the teacher even told me she liked the idea and was looking forward to read it! I'm grateful to have known your work this year, seriously. You indirectly helped me to not be afraid to show some of my stories. I think that at another time of my life I wouldn't have dared to do it, but knowing your games gave me that courage I needed, and I thank you for it. Lastly, I wish it was autumn in my country, here it's spring and the weather it's so hot already T-T I hope you have a great weekend!

2024-09-28 16:33:42 +0000 UTCOh it will definitely be released way after that 😂 My very loose release date for now is 'Spring 2025', with an estimate more towards late spring. If I estimate getting 10 images done per week, the remaining art will take 21 weeks. That puts the art completion somewhere around February or March depending on how many break I take and actual productivity, etc. That's just the art though- the game still needs more development after the art is done. [ https://www.dirtymurdergames.com/pgs/ykmetstrade.php has a completion chart showing the remaining steps to be done, like sound design etc ] That remaining work could take 3-4 months, depending on how things go. So the game could be out as late as July if things go quite slowly.

I chose that order since that's how I generally intended the originals to be played [ Ren was a more 'secret' route, and his route had Lawrence in it, which I feel will have more impact if the player actually knows who lawrence is- some new players may not have played the original games ] As for if there will be more, I have no plans for more. But I have no plans in general, as the combination of these 3 games will probably end up being 5-6 years of work and that's enough planning ahead for me 😂

Everything has been fully re-written of course so they happen a bit differently [ usually to the tune of 'more content' ]. Only a couple of endings from the original game have been dropped [ because I felt they were too boring or too out of character for strade ]. YKMET:Strade has 21 endings, so some of them are entirely new as well.
