Saturday Update!

Hello again folks! The weekend is finally here! 🎉 I'll warn you right now, this update is probably going to be obnoxiously long, I have a bunch of stuff to go over- In fact I think I'm gonna split it in 4 sections 😂

Section 1 - The regular Game Update

As you can see on the bar there, we're getting pretty close to done with the placeholder art. I did kinda zip through two of those endings, but I think the other 3 will take longer. Not that it really matters, you know I just work until things are done LMAO

The endings I covered last week are familiar classic ones- the health and sanity endings. They've both been changed quite a lot from their originals since I feel that the original endings were pretty short and uneventful. Here's some peeks at the new versions!

I think I got a fair amount of work done despite only working from Mon-Thurs on it! On Friday I switched gears to something else:

Section 3 - Hobbies and Sound Design

So, as I'm sure pretty much all of you know by now- I have quit social media. While it was difficult at first, I'm finding that my life has improved dramatically. One way it has improved has been freeing up a ton of time to pursue new hobbies.

For instance, one hobby I recently took up and am enjoying greatly is knife sharpening! That's not a joke or esoteric threat- I'm actually sharpening knives using a whetstone! I've learned how to prep the stone, use an angle guide, load a strop with grit compound, and it just feels really great to learn a hands on skill! [ plus my kitchen knives are soooo sharp now LMAO ]

But- I only have so many knives. So, I was thinking of taking up another new hobby.

And a thought struck me the other day. 

Why don't I try learning how to make video game music myself?

I could download some beginner software... watch some instructional videos...

I don't really expect to be good at it, or even to be able to make anything useful for my game- but learning the basics could help me figure out what I want! Plus, it could just be a lot of fun! Worst case scenario: I goof around and make a bunch of useless garbage and have a fun time!

Best case scenario: I actually come up with something I can use in my game??? I mean how cool would it be if I made the main menu theme music myself? 

Anyway- I'm not expecting any miracles and you guys shouldn't either- but I just think it's a fun idea. A real 'why the fuck not' sort of idea. I'll keep you updated if I manage to do anything interesting LMAO

Section 4 - Time Off

Lastly, I just want to let you guys know that next Saturday update will be a bit short [ a lot shorter than this one ] because I'm gonna be gone next Thursday and Friday. I'm going out skiing with some friends. Or if the snow all melts, I'll be drinking beer in an airBnB with 7 other people. Either way, my next work week will only be 3 days worth. Sorry about that ^^; I'll try my best to make them count!

And thank you guys so much for the support and kind messages lately. A lot of people commented on my social media post and sent me kind, caring messages. It means a lot to me.

A lot of people seemed to be pretty concerned about me too. I'm really touched- but I wanna say: Don't worry about me!

This whole thing feels like a vaccination- an evolution! Without the buzz and nonsense of social media, I feel like my creative direction has become clear. I'm ready to step forward!

But anyways, I've talked way too much!
