2025-11-01 19:17:17 +0000 UTCI first saw Paul Bennett's actor Mark Pellegrino in Season 5 of the series Supernatural, and I first saw Rita's actor Julie Benz in Season 1 of the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Very different parts for both of them, more so for Julie than for Mark, and I always marvel at Rita in particular. Such a different personality than Julie's character in Buffy! Mark, a little less so, but still quite different. Michael C. Hall is also in the series Six Feet Under, which is quite a different series. It's a drama, not a police procedural, and he doesn't play a serial killer, LOL. Like Julie and Mark, Michael also plays a very different personality. I first saw him here in Dexter, but he was the reason I watched Six Feet Under later on.

2025-11-01 01:39:40 +0000 UTCI'll give LaGuerta a pass on not appointing Deb as lead on the Neil Perry search. While she has been a police officer for awhile, she is a rookie detective, likely still on probation before she is fully on board, and would therefore still be under direct supervision. It's why she's been paired with Doakes and Batista in various investigations. Angel Batista has both experience and seniority, so it was absolutely the right decision to appoint him as lead. I used to work for local law enforcement (administration) and got to see how it worked. It's been many years since then, but protocol doesn't change too much. Until Debra is more seasoned and has passed probation, it is highly unlikely she will be lead detective on any case. It's also why Doakes, Angel, and even LaGuerta push back a bit (though LaGuerta has her other issues with Deb, as we saw last episode). While they can appreciate her enthusiasm and fresh ideas, Debra is still very much a newbie. I know some feel they can be harsh or are "shooting her down," but she really does need to learn the basics of detective work first, before she "reinvents the damn wheel," as Doakes said.
